3200 Battery problem.

Left the 3200 GTA last month for 19 days while abroad on a trip and battery was flat on my return. Called AA and they replaced the battery with a brand new one for £93. Just been away again for 9 days and once again had to call AA out on my return to a flat battery. Once car running the Volt meter read center between the 10 and 13 marker, presume thats 11 point something. Has anybody had a problem like this before without the obvious...leaving interior light on...ipod plugged in etc. Surely the standard alarm would not drain this quick?

Hi Spike,
do a little search on here,
I seem to remember reading about a couple of instances where the tracker drains the battery,
irrespecive of whether or not it is activated,
Regards,
Enzo.

i think that is the cause when the trackers own back up battery is at the end of its life and drains the car battery with a constant draw attempting to charge it. make sure everything in the car is off, plug the leads of your voltmeter in the current (milliamps) sockets, disconnect a battery lead (any) and connect the meter to the battery lead and battery terminal. any deflection of the needle or reading on the digital scale means you have a current draw. if you get the right scale and polarity and actually get a reading you can work out, with respect to the amp/hour value of your battery, how long it will take to completely discharge. if you really wanted to!

This is exactly why I use a battery conditioner on my cars. All modern cars have that many systems draining current that even a good battery will discharge in a relatively short time frame. A 3200 can be 'conditioned' through the cigar lighter whilst a 4200 needs the fly lead across the battery [also suitable for the 3200]. Look up 'ctek' on the interweb.

Some great advice thanks, I do not intend to re-new the tracker subscription currently fitted to the car as too expensive. If it is the tracker as many are saying, is it difficult to disconnect or would I need to take to a tracker official dealer, (there is one in Oxford). Another thought was to fit a solar powered charger through the lighter socket. ?

just take it to a competent auto electrician, they will find it pretty quick and remove it. If you do a search on here, the common locations are listed.
