Is the 3200 the same as the 4200 / GS with integral water and oil pump? If yes, check both functions in any used replacement, as you don't want to solve a water pumping problem, but create an oil pressure problem.

Different Miles, 3200 sits on the front, driven by cam belt. :)

My advice, don't go for a used water pump. Go new only, it's a false economy.

A used pump might seem ok but invariably, when you fit it with a new cambelt, the extra tension soon finds the weak spot.

If a water pump goes, it will take the cambelt, tensioners, heads, valves and pistons with it. Is it worth the risk....I think not.

i would normally agree but it seems rare to replace the water pump on these, so fitting second hand would be no different to the current pump being ok and just putting on a cambelt kit like everyone else.

that said, if im paying £140 for a used pump, can anyone on here get new ones fairly cheap?

When I had my 3200 cambelt done at a main dealer they tried the 'we would recommend you change the waterpump sir it is showing signs of wear' which was totally rubbished when the engine had to be rebuilt some years later.

From memory they tried to charge me £360 for the part but I declined.

I would speak to Alan at Dick Lovetts in Swindon as he offers a bit of discount to forum members so would expect it to be around the £300 mark.

For £150 it's not worth the risk in my mind.
