Might be the same as the 4200 i.e. one of the doors / boot sensors are not triggering as closed

Are the puddle lights working on both doors ?

If one isnt working i would suggest you take that switch out and bridge the connector so the car thinks that door is closed.

If both puddle lights are working then check the bonnet switch and boot switch sensor. Again you should be able to bridge the connector and test the alarm setting. If the boot light is coming on and off as normal it should go out just before you close the boot.

So if the puddle lights and boot light are working then start with the bonnet switch/sensor. If they all seem to be working as normal then i can only assume its the ultrasonic sensors in the door pillars that are playing up.

Refer to page 8 of the Owners Manual. It says the flashing 8 times indicates nonclosure of doors, bonnet & boot. If all opening sensors and lights are OK,the flashing now indicates a system fault. A system check requires SD2 diagnostics or a visit to an authorised Maserati technician. Welcome to the world of Italian electronics.

Advice above is the logical, sensible approach so do that first. After the logic comes the 3200 standard operating procedure.
Fully charge the battery and prepare to do some "reset procedures".
While waiting for the charge to happen, sacrifice a chicken and preserve the bones. Grind them into a fine powder and keep them inside a lucky rabbits foot. You will need these later in your 3200 ownership.
Once battery is confirmed good, disconnect it for 30 minutes (unless this was already done to supply the charge). Feeling brave? While better is out of the car, touch together the wires which attach to battery terminals. This will short out any residual charge in the electronics.
Fit and connect battery. Lock and unlock the car several times. There might be some odd noises and flashing indicators until things settle down.
Hopefully the alam fault will be gone. If not the systems are reset and fault might be more easily found.
Before going on test drive perform the throttle pot reset process. The test drive after battery reset will force ECU to "re-learn" the throttle so o need car is warm be sure to use full throttle at least once.

Trouble is there not, as most of the on board systems originate from Germany!
Magnetti Marelli and Bosch were to two main electrical component/ wiring harness suppliers on the 3200

You omitted to mention that if all else fails a full ECU reset requires the sacrifice of a young nubile virgin under a full moon. Currently we have two problems in that the recent full moon is now waning so you'll have to wait until the next full moon. Secondly, and most importantly, virgins are now extremely rare. If these girls tell you they are virgins, they are liars.

There is always the common problem of bad electrical connections to explore if all else fails. We did have a problem with a corroded length of wire to the immobiliser under the dash, which took months to find.

Best of British luck....................ha !

It’s not that bad...I’ve had her for probably 15 years, characterful yes..... once it genuinely shot a small washer out of the air vents at me. Very ”Herbie” Thanks for the reply’s...
