Not heard that method before?...you may have to do multiple down flicks of the paddle to drop it to min low gear...it won't let you go too low as the ECU will protect the mechanism.

This is available on all the CC/MC mechanical clutch change systems to my knowledge.

Been to see it this morning, very happy so proceeding and will collect at the end of the month. I feel like the Race button was designed to ensure salesman secure the deal on the test drive, that noise...

One question I do have if anyone can help with is the sequential downshifts. My understanding was you need to be in race and hold the left paddle and it will drop down as many gears as possible. I only tried this a few times on a short test drive but did not seem to work. Is there something linked to the engine being warmed up, or perhaps I need to get them to check the software? I was not driving hard so maybe that was also a reason? I will speak to the technician but no doubt someone on here knows.

It is in either Sport or Race. You need to be braking and hold the left paddle.

Cheers Zep, I suspect the point on needing to be braking is why I had no luck I think. I will see if the technician is able to confirm it’s all in order.

It’s actually not that easy to do. Only if you are really braking hard will it actually bang in more than one shift. Plus I am used to pulling more than once anyway, so I forget to hold it.

In any event, I doubt it won’t be working, it’s in the code for the TCU.

It does work really well and used it on my Strad but you have to be pulling quite some speed and then hammer on the brakes for it to work intuitively.

would work well on a track if want to take a Strad on a track!!

I don’t use it. It’s intuitive enough simply to pull the left lever once for each gear you want to drop.
That said, in general driving, the downshifts are done by the car automatically as you brake or slow down.

This

I used it on track and it's great fun. The noise as the revs jump up as the down gears are selected is quite something & addictive, maybe not something to use as you approach a roundabout in a town centre though!

Didn’t know about this feature so will have to have a play next time I am out and about. I normally just flick the paddle for how many down shift I want of driving spiritedly or leave it to the car.

I rarely use it, mainly because I forget while I’m enjoying the legendary Strad-bark of each downshift but also I can’t help wondering what happens when you are coming into a corner at speed and the computer just chucks it straight into 1st gear.
I’m sure someone will be able to tell me that this can’t happen and nothing can possibly go wrong………

Well it's extremely unlikely as the computer aims to drop into the gear that'll give you best responsiveness. Certainly very good at not permitting shifts up that will get to stall, or down that will red line.

I had a play with this feature on the way back from Sportsitalia on Thursday, seemed to work perfectly, but I think I will stick with the manual downshifts.
