4200 Aftermarket Wheels - Ideas and Opinions?

I'm toying with the idea of replacing my facelift 4200 wheels with something aftermarket, as they need refurbing and I don't really like them; but finding staggered wheels with the correct stud pattern and similar offset has been a chore.

I've found that Japan Racing JR36 wheels come in 18x8 ET52 and 18x9 ET48 5x108, which is close enough to the stock dimensions and will allow me to re-use my tyres.

Here's a really poor photoshop of what they might look like on a similar car (photo nicked from Google):

What do we think?

Any other 18" options you guys can think of?

The only non standard alloys that look ok on a 4200 are the Formula Dynamics ones. (in my opinion).

They're 19"s.. so you're into new tyres.
Personally, I wouldnt go over 18".The ride will become harsh and all that smashing around goes through your bushes and wishbones..Your funeral !!

Dagnabbit - I missed that. Yeah, I don't want 19's on this car, even though they look great. It's harsh enough as it is.

Might stick with plan A.

Yeah I had Team Dynamics on my first 4200 and used them on Celica Gt4 ST185 Rally Car.
Good Wheels and no issues.

That’s an early one, I did think about getting a Carlos Sainz instead of the Vette. Probably would have been a better idea!!!

Whilst on wheels I reckon the BBS type wheels on Phil’s 360 might look good on a 4200.

The 360 had the CS wheels on it really looked the part.
One of my favourite cars and lucky to have had one.
The ST185 was 91 and cost a few quid to build gave @conaero a fright when I spun it at Castle Coombe in the wet and we could see each others eyes quite clearly doing the Stroke association track day many years ago Andrea was in the passenger seat for those that remember her.

If you had an open cheque book then I think the best 18s are the Trofeo ones. Personally I think the GS wheels are the best on this car, followed by the original 3200 wheel. It also has the benefit of being technically OEM.

The guy that is selling the trofeo wheels has this picture as his ebay profile. 5 spoke alloys in the picture. Not my choice but gives you another idea.
