4200 air filter check

I have read a few horror stories regarding the state of a 4200 Air Filter.

These are a pain to change, involving removal of the wheel and arch liner, therefore they tend to be forgotten about and sometimes omitted at service time. This is often evident when the owner comes to change it I myself found that the old filter was in an appalling state.
In fact it is quite easy to check on its condition and see if it has been changed recently.
On a right-hand drive car looking at the front, peer into the right hand air duct in the spoiler bellow the spotlight and using a torch you can clearly see the filter element, and as you can see here mine is nearly new having been changed about 500 miles ago.

Now go and check yours!

Great tip, thanks Keith. No wonder they get so rusty and dirty with no snorkel to filter it.
