Could be the temperature sensor / ice warning..??

You say you are in Sweden and the ambient temperature is 15 degC, does that sound correct, or do you have a faulty sensor..??

Could be, but I checked this also. There is an outer temp info on the center console. Last autumn (when it was a bit not so cold, where I'm located), the temp was 15 degC on the screen, but the there were beeps. So, assuming the temp sensor support both the 3degC warning and the info on the center console, I don't think this is the root cause.

However, I read an interesting note in another forum, with the title "Beeping and Headlights Won't Come On ". It talks about beeps related to problems with the IGE control unit (auto headlight not functioning) and maybe a blown fuse. I'll try to investigate further during the weekend.

Maybe I should add that it was really 15degC (check with some other temp meter) that day

Do you have a tracker? Sometimes that beeps due to the unit itself having a low battery

Turn the auto headlight function off and see if it stops, or switch the headlights on manually, that should prove that idea one way, or another..!!

The only auto headlight on the 4200 is the levelling for Xenons. Surely not turn offable?

That's what threw me slightly, so I assumed I had the model wrong.?? If it's a 4200 / GS then no auto headlight system that I know of, unless it was an option I have never heard of..!!

I just assumed it was the self levelling. Wasn't going to get into what the IGE had to do with it :D

There is no diagnostic for a failing of the self levelling on xenon equipped 4200/GS.

If it is faulty it will default the lights to their lowest level to prevent dazzling

True Peter, it was this beeping thing that I have never heard of apart from the temp sensor, which it appears not to be..??

You mean from the proximity sensors, that's quite loud and usually comes from the back, he says this is under the dash somewhere..??

I have not been able to trace the route cause of the beeping issue.

So I started to look for the beeper. I traced it to the Digitek box under the dashbaord and I managed to get another Digitek box (second hand) which I installed.

I'm an engineer and believe in natural causes of things and clear explainations - but Italian (electrical) engineering is indeed special.

So with then new Digitek box, the beeping disappeared. Very good. But all beeps was gone. No beeps when reversing, open door, handbrake on etc. Very silent.

But there there was more -

The gear level indicator at the dashboard also disappeared.

Apart for this, evereything seems to work fine!

I read somewhere that these Digitek boxes could be "reset". Anyone knows anything about this?

Could it be a malfunctioning speed camera warning? When I first got my car, the high pitched triple beep really concerned me until after a little while and passing numerous signs, I figured out it was warning me of fixed speed camera locations circa 2002 (which of course Italian knowledge of UK speed camera locations thirteen years ago is not the most reliable and next to useless in 2015). The sound though is very different in pitch (higher) and volume (lower) than any reverse gear or sensor warnings.

just another option......

Thanks for the suggestions. However, I don't have any parking sensors on my car. A speed camera warning equipment - would that be part of the NavSat system?

In any case - with the replacement Digitek box, there are no no beeps at all - silent!
