4200 GT Coupe information unit issues

Hi all,

Have a 2003 GT coupe...recently the computer unit has sort of packed in. Its on......but i now have no sat-nav and have no audio! Anyone else experienced similar probs? Macari have told me computer has packed in and i need to replace at 2500 pounds! Anywhere i cna get a second hand one? Or anyone know how to fix it?!

You should be able to pick one up on ebay tony, under maserati parts , if not try David Askew his add is at the top of the page on the right hand side , just keep refreshing till his ad appears , failing that Eurospares should have a used one , they had a couple they were breaking

Hi Tony,

Welcome to the forum.

I am sorry to hear your woes. I am sure others will be along shortly with some words of wisdom and sources of hope.
There are a few breakers/ suppliers of used spares - eg David Askew would be worth a try. Otherwise Euro spares (or are they all new parts at new prices?).

Perhaps someone knows an italian electrical expert to suggest who can review the current diagnosis?

PS - Sorry, I was busy composing this when Loz posted, hence the duplication.

PPS - Douglas Valley breakers have a 4200 they are breaking, not sure what is left or condition.

Hi Tony and welcome to the forum, but sorry to hear you're having problems.

I take it the fuses have been checked?

They do come up occasionally on eBay, but you could contact David Askew to see if he's breaking a GT, or maybe Duncan (of England)? He's a forum member so maybe PM him?

Hope you get it sorted.

Possibly the armrest unit Matty, but as far aas im aware that only affects the cd player , not the computer itself , or the radio and IT screen functions

I could be wrong, but I thought they were all wired through the NIT Loz?

I'll make a call and check tomorrow , but i thought the armrest unit just affected the sat nav (via the cd) and the CD itself , but your right the loom does divert to and from there obviously as it act as an auxillary for the boot CD changer

wow thanks guys!! David Askew trying to source me a unit now.

2 questions :

1. For Emtee. Fuses??? i took it to Joe Macari and they said info unit just broken. Im taking it they would have checked fuses??
2. For Matt. u poste.... If you can do a 'How to guide" it would be very appreciated. You can email it all to me (admin@sportsmaserati.com) if you would like me to lay it out for you.

Not sure i follow u Matt? U asking me if u find a guide on how to do it?

Tony, we have a section on the forum, running reports and technical fixes. In here we do pictorial guides on how to fix problems. If you do manage to fix it yourself could you take pictures and write a guide on how to fix or replace the unit. All for the good of others.

Hi Guys
I know I have been very quiet of late, just had a lot going on in my life! but I wonder if it's worth trying to re-flash the NIT operating system with the master disc?
Where are you based Tony, I have the disc and would be willing to have a go...sounds like there is little to lose if the units not working anyway!

Nice idea but will have to pass this time sadly as its the wife's birthday and thats more than my life is worth!
