My two keys have a single black button on the leading edge for door unlock only, but I have seen keys with two buttons on the flat face for door unlock and boot release.
Always thought it was because mine was a 2002 and they later revised the key adding boot release as well...but I have just seen an earlier 2002 to mine on eBay and it has the two button key?

That description sounds like a 3200 key. Do you have two the same Mike? Possible it's (they're) re-programmed 3200 keys? Photo would confirm.....

Both keys are the same, plus identical to the pictures and description in the owners manual, both black, with one black button.

Interesting,.. I guess the single button keys must have rolled over into the earlier 4200's, though I didn't realise this was the case. I guess the ebay car may have been registered later, but have a similar build date?

Would be interesting to know if a later twin button key can be programmed to the car, handy to open the boot remotely.

Interesting to know if this can be done for 3200's as well. as you say the boot remote would be a great feature to have.
