So it was service and MOT time this week so got the car booked into Shiltech. Cracking people and top job done, sorted a few niggles like the handbrake shoes that were shot and a few other minor tweaks and the car sailed through its MOT. Seeing as it stayed dry today i thought id give her a good clean, polish and a few layers of wax for the winter. Best she's going to look for a while, bring on next summer!

Yeah its a Larini :) Yeah dem big thumbs up, very reasonably priced too. To be fair the car was in good condition so it didn't need much work but little niggles like the heat shield causing noise and the plastic under tray under the front bumper coming away got sorted. Only needed new handbrake shoes and a steering rack gator to get through the MOT. Chuffed!

It looks lovely but, IMO, the black wheels are too 'heavy' for the classy body colour. I reckon Mercury or gunmetal would look better. Just a thought.

Agreed, thats why i have them in gunmetal ;) They're just freshly polished and waxed so look a bit darker i think :)

Grigio Nuvolari. Great colour, but then I'm biased. :D Great to hear the guys (and Gal) at Shiltech looked after you. Was Geoff still lavishing his efforts on the 500 Superfast?

Geoff seemed like a very busy guy, cutting around doing jobs and popping in to let me know whats going on. Some very nice cars at that place!

He certainly is. I think he has something like 3 years worth of classic work to contend with. I think he's in a happy place though. He an artisan at heart. Give him the time and budget to deliver perfection, then that is exactly what he'll deliver. The superfast is my new favourite Ferrari. Can't say I'd dwelt on it previously, but seeing the blue one he's working on blew me away. Weird and of it's time, but all the better for it.

I love projects, although it probably sounds chavy i took a standard civic type r and turned it into a very handy track car with the power to weight ratio of a DB9 which day to day on a motorway would upset some very exotic cars. Its great spending time and effort on something you love and it feeds your passion. Ive grown up a bit now though and left it behind somewhat, i fell in love with the mas. Places like Shiltech make you want to give them your hard earned to perfect your car, if i had more expendable cash i think id probably let them loose on it and see whats capable..

Well Miles, I think Superfast is a relative (to then) term! Personally, I don't really like the back, it looks like its had a skip dropped on it, but it's ok I guess. I much prefer 250s and 275s.

250 Lusso is one of the prettiest cars of all time, certainly on my lottery win budget but IMO front engined Ferraris just look so much better balanced and the GT cars of the 60s & 70s are so understated, they have almost got that Maserati look ;)

They had a very nice 250 Lusso in DK Engineering when we visited them last year. Personally, I'd rather have the 250 SWB as it looked a bit meaner. Listen to me, what am I saying? It's like saying I'd rather nail Christie Brinkley than Elle MacPherson; it ain't never going to happen so my opinion ain't worth a dead rats a55!
