As above. I have a Maserati 4200 space saver spare wheel which looks like it's never been fitted. £100 c/w a new set of wheel studs to attach it with.
Please pm me if interested.

Not sure i would trust using one of these now. The space saver tyre is around 15 years old and you can no longer get a replacement tyre in the correct size as they are no longer made.

I'd be very very cautious. I mean none of us would put 15 year old tyres on our road wheels, would we?

The sticker on the wheel says don't go over 80 kmh so should be okay.
And don't forget to carry a plastic bag or tarp to put your punctured wheel in, as you'll need to carry it back in the cabin.
It's too big for the boot I'll told.

Kept away UV light in the boot, and at reasonably constant/low temps..you should be okay, as above IMO. Especially at this price- what a bargain !
You have to drive pretty slow- and if they are gone bad, you'll find out as you inflate it , most likely...
I wouldnt be without. In fact, when MrS sold it to me, he went on to destroy his tyre and needed a low loader...If only ?

They are perfect for the spyder. Fitting one turns the boot into a glove box and if you fit it, you have to leave the wheel with the punctured tyre in the lay-by as your passenger will, most probably, object to putting it on their knees, especially a rear.

Hi. I'm a newbie to Maserati ownership. Just collected my 03 4200 last Thursday. I have no space saver or the accessories that come with it and wondering does anyone know of somebody willing to sell same. I'm based in Ireland so will cover carriage. Not in a hurry to get but if anyone on the forum is thinking or knows someone thinking of selling I would be interested.

Regards

They are rare, and many are now past their use by dates and are now starting to perish.

Sadly verdesine will not sell a tyre to you so you have to buy from Maserati for >£1k.

As most cars came with just a pot of glue, you could just buy a used one of those and just change the can of glue to an new one... plenty on ebay, and they don't have to be branded Maserati ones to work.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Yes I see that these are becoming redundant but would like to have some type of rubber under carriage to get me to a garage / service station if needed to, rather than stay out on the roadside. I can cope with a below par tyre as better than a blown one but agree its a pain that the original manufacturers cannot provide replacements for what is essentially a piece of safety equipment and that Maserati charge so much for same.

Just wondering are there no generic space savers that you can use?

Welcome on board, I decided I really needed one when I got my 4200 a long time ago, I bought one, and it’s in the boot. OK, it’s there but to be honest I would likely just phone the AA if I had a puncture. Unless you are somewhere where that is not possible. You have to ask yourself if it’s really necessary. And to be honest I’m not sure how effective mine would be if really required in an emergency. Basically now all services such as AA and RAC etc have wheels available to fit nearly every car, including 4200’s.

Easy. Take the wheel and leave the passenger behind. Surely you tell them they are expendable when they get in.

Thanks for advice Saigon, really appreciated. Agree i will prob also call the AA but in Ireland you could be waiting quite a while and also a lot of their work is franchised out to local garages and break down guys who may not have the wheels needed.

Not in a hurry but would like to get a space saver. However are there any other makes that can stand in for the Maserati supplied one.

Must agree with you, in Ireland it most likely will be a problem due to the franchise and local garages being involved, in fact I really believe it would. There are other members living in Ireland who hopefully can give you a more specific advice. With that said, and considering your location I would feel more at ease if I had one in the boot. They are hard to come by, and there are no other wheels that will will fit directly. There have been so many threads and posts on here over the years about possibilities, but so far I have never seen any report of a success. Hopefully someone will prove me wrong and come along with a result, but don’t hold your breath. Good luck mate.
