This may have been discussed before.. but I came across this photo.

Anyone know who did this work / owned the car, or where parts were sourced from....perhaps someone on this forum?

I’m thinking with a 3d printer and original rear clusters as a pattern... it wouldn’t be too big a job to create a slot in - out better looking rear end for my spyder...

Appreciate any insights guys.

Thanks in advance..

This is the one that was rebadged as an alfa with a modified front grill.

Someone who wanted an 8C.

IIRC it was sold at auction a couple of months ago. It went for a low price. There are a couple of threads on it somewhere alfa 8c front end.

The back is better than the front was. The only light conversion worth doing is boomerangs.

If you are going to all this effort then why not install 3200 lights? At least it is semi original

It is your car so do what you want with it - just make sure it can be put back to stock with relative ease so you do not devalue it too much

I do wonder why you would buy a car in the first place if you find the tail lights so offensive that you need to do that to it... but each to their own!

It seems easier to do than the 3200 conversion at least, with that you need a new bootlid and a lot of fabrication.

This one seems to have an insert on the original rear light area, along with taillights from what I assume is the Alfa Romeo MiTo (which are also used in the 4C). If you do it that way then you can easily revert it back to stock when the time comes.

Its not original but I agree it would have been better than the Volvo esque units that ended up there.

That’s my thinking use the rear cluster as template for a 3D print and just replace the exiting cluster with the printed plastic insert and create a hole for the circular light cluster.. an easy swap in swap out option.. to maintain originality should I ever decide to part with the car..

I think you'll find that you need those with the 3200 'conversion' as well.....

I don’t think you quite got what I meant.

the 3200 conversion would need the fabrication and bootlid, with this you can avoid it if you add a cover piece in place of the original rear lights.

The gen 1 XK does a similar trick with one tuning company doing an insert for a round light conversion.
