My driver's side window stopped working a few days ago. I've dismantled and discovered the regulator pin has broken. I don't have the manufacturers number for it so finding it hard to find in the UK. They do sell aftermarket pins in America however, shipping will take two weeks! I'm keen to get the part quickly from the UK if possible as it is raining!!!

Does anyone have a UK source?
Thanks Steve

I reused mine when a similar thing happened. Drilled and tapped the centre to M6 (I think) then 9323'd a bolt and 2 washers to the other face. Il see if I can find it for you

Probably a little OTT, but id rather that than repair it again. Id offer to do it, but by the time id get it, id have left the country for a month.

Thanks. I've already drilled the hole but there are not many of the 'teeth' left on the 'pin'. I think I will try a self-tapping bolt and then also spot weld it in place! Have a good holiday.

Good luck with the flower type pin, as its some strange aluminium. I got it tested when i did mine, and the welder guy wouldnt touch it when i told him. I believe the arms are steel, but could be wrong, so give it a go

Excuse my ignorance but what is 9323 ? Some sort of super strength Epoxy ? Im assuming that you spread it underneath and in between each washer and the nut head to stop it all rotating ?

Pretty much yes. 3M 9323 is a structural adhesive that is used in various industries. Its pretty decent at holding chassis’ together, so hope its good enough for a window mechanism. I dry blasted the pin first, and prep’d the mechanism then basically wasnt shy with the glue, as you can see. I also had to trim the bolt down once in place, as the coil spring mechanism wouldnt sit properly.

I’ve just transplanted a new crown gear on to my mechanism . I bonded and riveted it . I also put some epoxy on that dodgy star pivot just to stop it moving . It should do the trick

The problem that I am having is that the mechanism seems stiff half way up the travel of the window . I think this is what caused the teeth to strip in the first place . Any ideas what would cause that ? Runners ? I have never moved them so it seems a bit odd .

Yep open or closed .I mean it works but you can definitely hear it struggle in the middle . It can’t be good for it .

Could be the crown gear is ever so slightly out of position, or the window itself needs a little tweak. I was surprised how much difference a slight tweak to the adjusters made

bent runners?
Is there much adjustment on the bolts securing the frame? Might be going up at a slight angle

I meant I was going to use a self tapper and weld that on - the flower type pin is well shot! In fact, the pin is not in much better shape! I'll give it a go and if needs be, I'll have to buy a new mechanism!!

Is it not worth ordering the new pin from the states and doing the fix until it turns up?
