Or a Huracan and change for a Strad! I don't get why anyone would spend 225k on an 8c. It makes zero sense to me.

YES!!! Even better
To be honest a Strad looks more aggressive to me than this Alfa! and the fact that a Strad is 50k now makes this 8c...overpriced x3!

So he's wrong about it being based on the GranTurismo right? The engine seems to be GT based but the chassis is mostly GS? Seems like the electronic systems are very similar.

Was behind one on the ferry to Le Mans Classic this year, looks nice but so does my GS, definitely not for 10x the price!

QP chassis, ASF and Carbon Body.

The 8c Coupe hasn't aged well IMO, the roof line looks strange from certain angles and the rear kamm tail cop looks more aggressive than it did in the day. The style will probably work its way back into my head over time. The suspension on this one has ben modified and despite the money not for the better by the sound of it..

Personally even if I had the money I wouldn't buy an 8C coupe but the Spyder now thats totally different, it just looks so much all together

GTS drivetrain, though. Shorter torque tube. Brakes and suspension more or less the same as well? Presumably the brakes are - he mentioned they're not very good.

It's an odd thing, but I didn't warm to the look of the 8C in that video. I thought I really liked them, but that one didn't do it for me. Maybe it was the colour. Maybe the spider looks nicer. It's not where my money (ha!) would be going, that's for certain.

I think lovely from the front, but the back looks a bit to high for me, particularly when following it.

Wasn’t the chassis actually a chopped down 4200 rather than GTS chassis?

It was said that the 8C was built on the 4200 Spyder platform but that is not so. One look under the bonnet and its clearly the GranTurismo/QP shortened platform again with the 4.7 lump positioned aft of the front axle.

For the same money, you could have an FF and a California, or a 599 and a California T... I know where I'd be putting £220k

For the same money you could buy a 4.7 QP, enjoy the same music and performance, better ride, just as good looks and have the space to take your friends with you to visit the chateau in the Loire valley you bought with the change.

I think the sound on the video is compromised by the echoing in the hard-finished interior. Who knows if it is representing things correctly.

Thanks for posting. Another car which seems to fall into the better to look at, than to drive category.

Thinking about it, this was true of all the Alfas we’ve owned since the 2000GTV Bertone coupe which was lovely to look at and to drive. The 164 and 166 had great engines powering the wrong wheels, the 159 Q4 Sportwagon is still the best looking estate this side of a 456 Venice, but it had a boring thirsty engine and drove like an Audi.

Our second MiTo has the brilliant Fiat TwinAir engine, but as a friend of mine said “she looks like the kind of chubby younger sister you’d settle for if you couldn’t get off with the older one.”

Think I agree Andy....The Spyder looks better. Wasn't the Spyder a more sorted car as well as they learnt lessons from the Coupe.
