A few of us on here like a little French car

It must be a French car weekend! We were kindly chauffeured home Friday night by friends in their Citroen C6 3.0Hdi (very good ride) - they also own a DS and a CX amongst many more esoteric Euro cars. I then spotted this Renault 16 on the A303 on Saturday and this 17 on the A34 today (how small were cars of that era!);

@Guy Great pictures.
The R16 is amazingly spacious for a car that is not as wide and long as a modern car.
We were 4 adults up yesterday in the 66 R16 and very comfortable and very quite inside the car.
First time I have driven one on the road since the early 80's and loved it.

I may be wrong but I don't think anyone was setting up cars or the Nürburgring back in those days so engineers were allowed to design a bit of ride comfort (plus 70 profile tyres were 'low profile')!

My Physics teacher had one of these in brand new in 1973, he had been working as an industrial chemist before moving to teaching and his cars always stood out in the teachers car park, in 1976 he swapped the TR6 for a brand new XJS

Deputy headmaster had one of these, just to remain on topic

Where as my physics teacher had the crapiest car in the car park. To think if he’d just parked it in the garage some loony Frenchman would pay 140,000 euros for it!

I can almost feel the hard plastics and incredibly spongey seats! When turbos were fun; wait for it, wait for it, woosh!
I bet not too any left now.

My old Lancia Y10 Turbo was like that!
1049cc and 99BHP on the rollers.
Wasn't fuel injected but did have a quite a fancy intercooler arrangement.
