A YEAR IN MONTREAL

My son reminded me that I have had this car for ten years, so I thought this lock down was a good opportunity to progress things. But you won't want you hear this, I am going to need it to last at least a year if I am going to to have any hope of completing it. Also need to spend less time reading this forum.804528045380454

RHD one as well. How much rot was there?
There was very little rot, the car had stood twelve years in a small garage before I bought it. I decided to clean the underside, and in places there was some surface rust just starting so I think I caught it just right, I can't find any previous welding and I believe it is all original metal under there, There was some minor rust around the flanks in places and we did put a couple of lower panels on but that's all, the sills and doors are all good.
I purchased a blasting pot and cleaned the complete bottom of the car, then treated it with Bilt Hamber rust converter just to make sure, then three coats of two pack epoxy , then an under seal.

Top end breather pipes?

Fuel injection on cars was in it's infancy then. Good luck with the project. That underside looks good enough to eay your dinner off.

They look to be vacuum, maybe to a breather. Perhaps they put them on all inlets for balance?

Beautiful car - this is the car that really interested me in Italian cars when I was a nipper. I've got a Polistil model of one somewhere in the loft.

Looks like you've done a cracking job so far.

What are the black pipes for?
yes indeed they are vacuum pipes, they attach to a manifold thingy on the air cleaner I think they equalize pressure or something like that. the Spica system is a little involved there are barometric capsules thermostatic actuators etc, I do not profess to be an authority on them, but I know a man who is. Once set up it is apparently a good system and relatively reliable. I would think alfatwo knows much more about them than me.
