3200itis is untreatable I'm afraid. The list of hens teeth parts just grows year on year but does not stop the 3200itis sufferer with baldy patches from frustradedly pulling his hair out from fighting against the tide of impossibility. I have not driven mar I for over a year for want of an ecu and key set but optimistically I've ordered aN AC ARB from here. That will go under the spare bed with the brake set, wishbones and other bits I've picked up over the last few years......other than a bullet there is no cure unfortunately.

It was some years back but Autoshield had a number of them in their display case.
Just checked. They have gone. Maserati probably bought them back - just to p1ss us off!
Jaundiced - or what?
Autoshield were really helpful and got straight back.
Pity Maserati arn't as quick and responsive as their agents...

My old mum needs a new ecu but there is a good excuse for that. Have you had a look at Larini?

Either way I am not permanently putting either in a 'rest' home just yet.
'Rage. Rage agianst the dying of the light!'
To paraphrase another Taff that would have loved to call the Official Masarati Old Parts Service, Llareggub [Dylan Thomas - best read backwards to get the full meaning].

In trying to get in contact with the surviving members of the Masarati family, I found this - probably not new to you guys - and way too expensive for a flat capped 'Fettler' like me - but fascinating none the less.

Nigel Trow certainly knows his stuff!

I was at that book launch - you can see my old blue QPGTS in the background. I didn't buy the book however, as he largely missed out my favourite period of Maserati road cars (90’s). A great read for Masersti historians, but for fans of their more recent road cars, give it a miss.

Got any family contacts at Maserati? Still want to ask them why they are apparently abandoning anything over ten years old - including myself!

I don’t understand it, everyone seems to ignore the 90s cars. I’ve always wanted a Ghibli Cup or Quattroporte v8 Evolution.

Agreed. Lovely cars, the both. I’ve had three QP EVO V8’s and two Cups, the last of which is currently for sale if you’re interested. Asking price, IMHO, is a tad optomistic at circa £75k, but if you don’t ask...

Parts are an issue for the EVO though. For example, even basic necessities such as front brake discs are not available. Annoying.

...And the abuse began with Citroen - who on taking over Maserati with 75% share on 30th June 1968, the new French managers promptly started throwing out the old drawings and spares! What the **** happened to Maserati Classiche? What the **** happened to the care and love that they used to show old cars and even older customers?

When your nonna gets too wrinkly and starts rusting her in her stays, do you just take her out and dump her?

My first introduction to Maserati was via a Citroen SM the dealership some of my mates worked at had one in for some reason, not sale, must have been service.

Would be very early 80's? Haven't googled SM's so no idea when they were produced. Was a leftie, with a V6, we popped the bonnet just to look at it.

This is ingrained very deeply in my memory cos one of my mates there, Jimmy (a twin) was also fawning over it. A few days later in the pub he said he'd bumped a car at work, and one of the lads asked what he was gonna do. He said he was gonna kill himself. We all laughed but he did it, that night. 18 years old.

Went to his funeral, I would be 21/22, burial, pissing down like in the movies, his twin sister totally distraught, awful, floods of tears, hardly able to stand, I thought she was going to throw herself on the coffin as it was lowered, and as the ground was so slippy it would have been a distinct possibility one way or another.

I used to cry every night for months, to be honest he wasn't a best mate, but it was the whole tragedy of the total chain of events.

Still have the burial scene in my minds eye, rain, rain, mud, umbrellas, black garb, stumbling sibling hardly able to stand needing helping up - very sort of Victorian.

Who started this!!??

When your nonna gets ancient do you throw her away?

Trouble is Fiat don't see any reason in making spare parts for a few 20 year old maser's as there's no profit to be made, hence there no point

In some ways you have to agree, there a multi million dollar car company, selling stuff all over the planet, not faffing about with some old bangers like my 3200GT they made over 20 years ago!

What they do need though, cash willing, is a proper FCA sanctioned old school Maserati Classiche dept.!

I believe Fiat/Maserati officially founded a Classiche Dept in March 2010 under the direction of Dr George Mauro in the office of Director Mr Harald Wester; it was organised by Mr Ermanno Cozza in recognition for his years of dedicated service to Maserati . He was assisted by Fabio Collina - a digitising expert. Check out maserati.classiche@maserati.com for documents etc. Mr Cozza is now retired - he wrote a lovely book Maserati At Heart , which was published in 2018 by Georgio Nada Editore - with a Preface by Adolfo Orsi.
