Don’t be shocked but I will tell you an uncomfortable fact: you car contains up to 90 liters of highly flammable hydrocarbons!!! Shocking, isn’t it? I understand you weren’t aware that gasoline is highly flammable.
Btw. What kind of leak do you expect would an AC have that leaks enough gas to be flammable and at the same time keeps the gas for more than 5 minutes

Hey look, it’s your car, you should do what you want. I am making people aware of how this is viewed in the industry and they can make their own choices.

As for petrol, it’s contained in a system designed for it and is liquid at room temperature and only burns when in vapour form. It has to be compressed up to 14 times to provide a fast flame to provide motive force. Iso-butane is in its most flammable form at room temp and 1kg can yield over 19000 joules pretty much instantly. This is why houses fall down when it leaks and ignites. It’s your choice, but I wouldn’t want to be nearby when a pipe ruptures.

Ice cold aircon fully restored! New receiver drier installed, and stupid me thought that as I had bought a new pressure switch I would fit that as well while the system was empty, mistake! Trying to undo the old one resulted in stripping the threads, so a 2nd hand pipe had to be obtained from eurospares, and that was fitted last night, just been re gassed, and is now back to what it should be. So that means the heatwave will now end!!
