Airbag failure return to dealer

I have had this warning intermittently 3 times. After I park the car and come back to it everything is fine when I next drive it. Then a couple days later it reappears halfway through a 50 mile drive.

I'm going to call the dealer as the car is a few weeks into its full Maserati warranty but any ideas or experience of this?

I get that as one of the myriad of warnings that light up if and when the battery is low, but only on start-up, not during a journey though.I'd imagine a quick reset by the dealer will cure it.
I assume the battery is fully charged?

I think it is. The car has been with me for 3 weeks and used both weekend days for long runs but it sits Monday to Friday. The dealer had it on charge for 24 hrs before it was collected (apparently their standard practice). The warning has occurred on start up but has also occurred mid trip after a decent 1 hour run. I have a CTEK on order and will be rigging it up as soon as I can but the car turns over strongly and starts well so there are no signs of low battery.

My Porsches have been known to throw the odd random warning message when the battery voltage drops, so the current one is constantly connected to another CTEK in the garage. Same for the GTS when the charger and extension cable arrives, although that will live on the drive.

Low batteries get a host of electrical gremlins on Masers, usually a charge, run and re-starting the engine can cure things.
But the airbag switch at the passenger side is known for electrical faults and is covered under you Maserati warranty.

+1. A battery conditioner really is a must on these cars. Mine would not start at two months old and had to be trailered in. Wife couldn't stop laughing.

Dealers should really fit them as standard, would save a lot of hassle.

I reckon I can top Trump that!
Had a brand new Griffith 500 ordered and arranged for it to be delivered on a trailer and winched onto my drive on the day of my 30th birthday....all my mates are round to see me show off... delivery driver goes on his merry way, even with a tip in his pocket as I'm celebrating........go to start it up with everyone watching and....,nothing, absolutely dead.....they hadn't even connected the bloody battery.
One of my mates then had great fun sending me a video of me trying to start it every birthday for the next seven years!

I'm guessing electrical connection as was the issue with mine. I posted the info on here somewhere. Major design fault with the design and storage of the C can loom between the floor pans.

Dealer seems to agree, and think its a connector in the door. Going to take the car in for a couple of days to sort it.

For others who may experience this, the car is now fixed. The issue is a design issue with the electrical connector between the car and door which carries connections for e/window, door locks, lighting airbag etc. This is apparently a known failure point and the passenger door side had failed. Dealer has replaced connector with an upgraded type and has also replaced drivers side as this would likely suffer the same issue in the near future.

Now you know!

Happy Masering!

Glad it's fixed. It's always electronics on modern cars!

My driver's seat cut through some wires when it was going backwards/forwards and lit the dash up very nicely.

Indeed, I suspect it will not be the last electrical gremlin. Great to have it back though. Having only had it a month and only driving at weekends a couple of days not seeing it on the drive is not good!

Hi C4Sman - I also have an airbag light issue - I have replaced the battery and no change - the car is kept on a CTEK. Do you happen to have a picture of the connector your dealer replaced pls?
