Another black GS for sale

This is the one that came out of ADG with a red trident on the nose. Was offered for sale by a dealer in Desborough recently and I think I recall Alastair from ADG posting that it needed £5k to set it straight.

At least the trident is not red anymore, but the front number plate bracket had clearly gone walkies and I wonder what they did to fix the burn in the passenger side tech cloth.

This car is back up for sale minus the red trident and looks a lot better for it. Sadly that's about as good as it gets. The seller is the guy that bought it from Desborough Car Company and appears to have enjoyed the summer in it whilst investing nothing in it.

I did ask for the service history and got nothing. He talks of the clutch wear reading by ADG but they last saw it in 2015 so that's not much use and another seller not interested in getting the car to a specialist for a PPI probably more out of fear it will tell you what you probably already suspect... an unloved car with a lot of expense to get it to a decent standard.

Two cars leap out as much better value than this. Zep's car which sounds like it already may have an offer and hashluck's LE that is for sale with Dicky. I would take either of these cars first.

Questions of and answers from seller below:

a. have any tyres been replaced since the MOT earlier this year; No they have not
b. is there any suspension or wheel bearing issues; Not that I am aware of
c. is there a hole or cigarette burn in the leather or techno cloth of the passenger seat; Yes
d. is the footwell damp indicating the heater matrix is leaking (a well known issue with these cars). If it is the cost to replace is £2k as the whole dashboard has to come out; No all dry
e. is there any rust on the car or bubbling of the paint, in particular around the door mirror mounts or around the rear lights or bootlid; Not that I have noticed
f. are the surfboards cracked or evidence of them having been repainted; Not cracked but may have been repaired
g. any issues you are aware of with the car; None
h. when you bought the car was it subject of a pre-purchase inspection and was a clutch wear reading taken. A new clutch and flywheel is £2.5-3k; Document saying 45% wear on clutch form ADG
i. what registration is the car on currently. I went to perform a hpi check earlier and the car wasn't recognised; On the registration on the advert
j. how would you describe the condition if the interior? The techno cloth is not reputed for its durability and is frequently stained or faded as well as the historic issue of the rear to the passenger seat if not already repaired. The cost to replace the techno cloth throughout is £2-2.5k; The small hole on the seat, a small hard which looks like hardened nail varnish in the centre console fabric & a few scuffs on the air vents in the back centre console.

If I was to take things further I would want the car inspected at a Maserati specialist such as McGrath Maserati in Hitchin. Would you agree to that? No, more than happy for an inspection at my home by any main dealer but I’m way too busy to be driving to Hitchin for an inspection

Apologies for the questions but I think you will see that I am serious buyer who knows the pitfalls and risks of Maserati ownership; I understand but consideration needs to be taken on the age and the ownership of this type of vehicle things do go wrong, I have a lot of experience in my history after owing various 911, Maserati’s, Ferrari 550, Shelby Mustang to name a few. This car is not perfect and would describe as used but in great condition for its age so you will have age related imperfections, a great purchase at not a lot of money and will appreciate.

Why would anyone consider any other black GS when Zep’s car is for sale for the same money more or less?

Surely the very similar GS that RG has is worthy of a mention.
A few more miles but recent servicing and warrantied.
Looks equally good value for any new buyer. No?

The RG one is this one:

Hugely better value in my opinion but then I know exactly what has been done and spent on it. All documented and car inspected and warranted. Buyers have a choice of black GS at the moment but there are certainly two stand out examples and funny enough both cars well known to the forum. I know my money would go on one of these and likely depending whether I wanted full leather interior or not would be the deciding factor.
