Anyone know this car? Newbie looking for a GTS

Yeah, a nice long drive in your new car is half the fun for me!

Just don't want any nasty surprises along the way, although I still have my other car so it won't immobilise me.

Brake discs might need doing so that's £2k there, and I really dislike the red interior trim, and of course I'd have to get the head unit changed to something more modern. But apart from that it's ticking most of the boxes.

The forum are running a group buy on discs and from memory they’re a cheap deal at £500 or close to that.
Conaero also did a group buy on here for the SM CarPlay kits for close to £500...I’d already done it on mine and cost me nearly three times more fitted-it transforms the entertainment system

The red trim will just be a wrap, you or any decent garage could remove it to stock or re-wrap in a colour of your choice...could be all done under £1.5k I reckon, that’s if discs need doing

I like them in red, but quite aside from the questionable (but reversible) interior trim tweaks, the replaced rear bumper and exhaust work (which looks wrong on a non-Strad - aggressive rear and less aggressive front, odd combo), it's also due a service. I would proceed with caution. At the very least it needs a thorough inspection form a trusted indie. Who is the forum's preferred indie up that way?

It says in the ad the next service isn't due for another 11,000 miles.

I've asked the seller about service history and it has a full history apparently, but he didn't disclose exact details.

Is a full service history on a GT every two years or 12k miles?

2 years is a LONG time to not have your car checked over IMO.

So should have had 4 services as a minimum and next service in 4k (at 36k) or in 2010 which ever is sooner

Yes, 2 years or 12K.

Pretty normal for a lot of cars these days, including Porsche.

Could argue MOT is an annual check?

Most cars will do less than 12k miles in 2 years.

I personally think the 2 years is the reason why there are so many poor GTs out there... it encourages people to buy them cheap and then try to flog them on two years later requiring a £5k service and repair bill

That's a shame if true. When I bought my car, I had it serviced about 6 months early. What's the point in owning these cars if you don't keep them A1?
I guess they are at a price point where people can afford to buy, but not necessarily maintain.

What are the interior trim tweaks Adam....are you talking about the red inserts. Agree not a nice touch but these were an option back then. You could have black, blue, yellow or red if my memory serves me right.

Were they? I assumed they were a wrap. The standard is brushed aluminium and then pian black or carbon. Phil had a silver weave carbon on his but I hadn't seen red before. I'm happy to be corrected.

There's a photo which shows that maintenance is due in 0 miles, hence my concern re whether servicing is up to date.
