Only an hour from me, might be a nice run out on my day off. Once the new tyres are fitted to my own QP.

Spoke to them today. The service history comprises of 4 invoices to Dick Lovett at varying times over the last 11 years. No stamps in the service book. They have done the variators though. He didn't sound very familiar with any of the other common problems. Nobody has had the car inspected or viewed and walked away according to VGS. To be fair it is already at a competitive price and I would plan on keeing it long enough to create my own convincing service history (and hopefully not to expensive!). Any thoughts on taking a punt and having it inspected or would the lack of history be a deal breaker?

What are the invoices for would be the question. It is a good price and the price of an inspection is going to confirm one way or the other. May be some negotiation on price if you have got to do every belt, fluid, filters, carbon canister etc. I would want a reasonable amount of fuel in it too so it is not sucking ****.

Get it inspected as that will throw up any issues.....Some wouldn't touch it as it only has four stamps but these cars are old and lots do not get serviced to schedule as they get cheaper and owners scrimp. But get the inspection as if that come up trumps and you plan to keep it then I probably doesn't really matter. Plus I believe it has a service schedule of 1 service every two years so only missing two services I think. Sub frame would be the one for me to get checked though as that ain't cheap.

As Andy says along with the others a Good Inspection on the underside front subframe and all the wishbone and shock absorber bushes.
Brakes too as they can be expensive.
Check the invoice for the variations was it a full job done or just solenoids ?
If you are handy with a spanner a lot of the work is doable with the forum knowledge and specialists on board.
As always have a War Chest for a rainy day.

thanks guys. the invoices are purely regular service and not for repairs. Can anyone recommend a PPI company that knows these cars?

Also cant stop looking at this particular car. Similar colour combo to a 3200 we have in the family. Lack of history is a shame as it does look to be in good nick. I was going to call them this afternoon to enquire about history but my questions have been answered here.

It would be interesting to see what work was done on the variators as mentioned above and of course the underside condition too.
