Seems to me most on here are generally a healthy bunch , just wondered how many of you have deliberately not bothered to attend to certain ailments either (a) because of the fear of catching something or (b) fear of adding to an NHS overload , Personally i want to go for a geneal health check and if possible get an antigen test so that i can travel back to South Sudan for a shortish stint. Thoughts appreciated guys

I’d been avoiding the docs but did today and it didn’t go too well. I think it’s important that you still go and try to carry on as normal as far as health is concerned.

I went to the GPs in the middle of this. Had to have a triage call and they decided it was serious enough to have a face to face appointment. Got there and I was the only patient. Bloody brilliant.

I am overdue a 'wellman' clinic which I intend to put right as soon as I can
Someone told me it was every 2 years - not sure.
The last but one high lighted a potential prostate problem which thankfully went away on a subsequent check
I do the poo sticks when they arrive in the post
I attend the dentist regularly and go and get my feet sorted every 12 weeks or so
I am 102 years of age

When I joined the French system and got my Card Vitale they called me for a full going over from top to bottom all done in one centre with doctors dentists opticians the lot.
Really pleased that I'm still in good order at 57.
In my opinion worth doing if you can get it done.

I am not sure my bi annual health check for another year but if it was due now I would skip it for the moment.
However I was due a check up for a historical health issue and attended the Royal Free yesterday, put on a face covering and socially distanced, although I saw relatively few people.

When you say “top to bottom” can u talk us through this .
My main concern is the “bottom” bit and the full going over .....and the fact it seems to be a professional free for all. Were catholic priests present?

To be fair you seemed to enjoy it....” worth doing”,
I just need a little more convincing.

Wattie top of my head where all that hair is mate you remember all that stuff ;) to the bottoms of my feet.
As regards the rear outlet unless your Dem they posted me a kit where I gave a small sample and posted back to the lab.
So it really was pleasurable and no one interfered with me so I'm still a virgin there.

Dentist just cancelled my regular check-up for end of this month.
I would go to a physio to talk about a 'tweaked' adductor (or maybe a hip flexor) that is making my left knee unstable; but I'm just letting it sort itself out.
No plans to go to South Sudan any time soon.

My last full check-up the doc said, "And would you like me to check your prostate?"
This was followed by a very strange and protracted conversation about whether I would like that, vs whether I medically needed that, etc

Same here.

My response was 'It wasn't high on my list of things to do this afternoon.....'

I am now. Had 75 per cent of my stomach removed a year ago and I’ve lost about seven and a half stone, possibly eight now.
No more curry, fry ups, hot pizza, burgers, lamb... onion is tricky too. No fizzy drinks, so no beer. Can apparently drink alcohol now but apparently due to much less stomach to absorb it you go from sober to plastered in a not-fun manner.

Occasionally I regret it - out of everything it’s lamb, and curry, I miss most. That and lemon and mint San Pellegrino, or Tory Fanta as one of my more socialist colleagues calls it. Artisan bread too. Just can’t process it all. Restaurants are a little daunting.

But my knees are better and I don’t look like a hot air balloon with two dead manatees hanging off it. And I can fit into more Italian sports cars... oh and my health’s better but it’s the cars that matter most.

Jeez, how old are you if you don't mind me asking?

I'm 58, had heart failure but apparently that gone (I'm not sure it can go away but heart consultant said it had - or improved a lot) and had spleen and pancreas and liver probs, probs due to living in Denmark and caning the really strong ales, then took a year off the booze and limit it now - but I feel fit and well and for me as long as I'm eating, breathing, shiiting and peeeing normally I must be ok-ish. And I am.

TBH mental state worries me more - I think that'll be my downfall before anything physical, I'm not mad or owt, just as I get older I get too analytical about life and love and what's the point. That's why I intend to work till I drop, if I retire I'd end up just sliding into a zombie-state...

I had a high PSA level in march, followed by MRI scan just before this all kicked off, consultant refuses to have me in for further tests/ possible biopsy in present climate, which I am sort of glad of in a strange sort of way, hopefully will see me in July if situation has improved, but is a slight worry not knowing for sure, to say the least.

Well I guess I 'won' but it's something we all need to have done on a regular basis. But I'd had one not that much previous.

Its something which for some reason we dont as guys discuss , or open up to doctors enough but affects an awful lot of guys , sure my doc reaches for the surgicals the minute i open the door lol

We should ask for medical advice should we feel something is not right..Speaking from the doctor’s perspective now

37 now.
Ten years ago I was properly enormous - I had size 17 feet at the time. Lost around 12 stone then with an unsustainable diet and exercise. Put about half of it back on after I settled down with my now wife. A few years ago I resolved to do something about it and start going to the gym. Word of advice - if your gym instructor is almost as chubby as you are, it’s best not to take his advice. I did, and he had me doing squats even though I told him my right knee was dodgy. The predictable happened, craaaack. No gym for a few months. Then I went to Retromobile, the year it snowed, still hobbling a bit. On the way back from the RM Sotheby’s sale my shin ended up far further forward from my thigh than intended.

40 was approaching rapidly and with meaningful exercise unlikely to work, dieting unlikely to work quick enough even with willpower, drastic action needed to be taken.
