My battery is flat on my quattroporte. Happened before last year. Couldn’t start it from engine and AA came and used the points in the boot to charge it. Everything I see on YouTube and in manual says to use engine but aa guy said it wasn’t powerful enough. Problem is (as in the engine where there seems to be no negative point) it’s not clear where to attach the +ve and -ve cables. Can anyone help ? Thanks. I’ll attach pic of batttery in boot

There is a point, but it will be the engine earth strap, down in the bowels of the engine bay. I wouldn't jump it at all, but charge the battery, as this is less likely to upset your electronics. Although, if it has been flat before, you might find the battery is not too interested in holding charge and will need replacement.

If you connect it in the traditional way in the boot it should work perfectly, just dont start the other car as you run the risk of a spike.

So jumping it didn’t work. Bought a charger and now the boot won’t open as is too flat. How do you open the boot on a quattroporte 2015?

Can’t find a QPVI manual on the net, but there will be a section in the manual on how to release the boot.

According to a post on ML, under the front of the left side rear passenger seat, there is a black ring. Pull it to release the boot.

Thanks I read that and don’t know what it means. The button on drivers panel doesn’t work (as no battery) no idea what you are supposed to do in arm rest. It won’t charge from engine (didn’t last time Aa guy had to use battery in boot to charge). So seems I’m screwed and will have to call out a tow truck to take me to an expensive Maserati dealership

Do your rear seats fold down? This reads that you enter the boot through the seats and there is a leaver on the lock mechanism. I think you need a charger on you engine poles tbh.

I’ve got a charger on the engine. The positive is obvious but there is no negative. Looking at YouTube it says the car is the negative so attach it anywhere. Does that look ok? Isn’t charging at all

It looks fine, at best it will give you the power to open the boot. It won’t charge from there.

What sort of charger do you have? Some “smart” chargers won’t provide power unless they see a battery accepting charge and it seems like yours has decided it doesn’t want to be a battery anymore.

If it won’t work with the charger, connect jump leads to the same points (as shown in your pics) from another car, that will give you power to open the boot.

Then connect the jump leads to the battery terminal.

As I said before, don’t start the other car (there should be no need anyway) as it’s starting the car that gives the risk of a spike.

One you get it going and have run it for a while, the smart charter should be able to take over, or better still head for Halfords for a new battery.

You then get to enjoy the rest of the Bank Holiday

Hope you get sorted
