$30K worth of work to do to it Loz?

P

Hard to say Frank ,

Bonnet new £5750 plus vat
Wing new £1600
Bumber used around £500
Grill used around £250
Headlight new £1200 ish
Say £3K for bits you cant see

Thats around £11K on bits plus reassembly, door repair and painting another £2500 thats £13500 plus the cost of the car and shipping approximately

if the car goes for around $32K that = £ 20K so £33.5K all done maths seems to work approximately

Ends tomorrow 12 EST......tempted Loz......or wait a bit longer?

P

Good thing about the US copart site is that they generally advertise the cars 2-3 weeks before the auction end whereas the uk site gives around 7 days , hence you would have the oppurtunity to pop over and view it to assess and price up , secondly timing is wrong for me now we are thinking of moving with two massers and two mercs and a van , would need to shift a couple first , i reckon i will be ready by may june this year

Loz, just as a side note...the guy that transported my car to MK (Nick),
said that his company do a lot of transportation of damaged cars from the USA to this country...
you are probably already on to it, but might be worth asking them what they charge to get a car here,
Regards,
Enzo.

Yeah had a quote a little while back Enzo from Texas to Southampton , surprised me only $1485 containerised plus $200 insurance , i paid more than that 15 years ago when i bought my fiat spyder from florida

Loz, what do you see it as being worth when done? Low £30k's to get it on the road and you've got a LHD GT with history - what'll be worth in a year or two? Free motoring?

Will be great for Eurotrips!

Havent really given it too much thought Woody , as to its worth , certainly i would intend on keeping it a year or two at the very least , even considered registering it at my mates place in France , might make it easier for resale purposes , whether the history transfers over here or France im not too sure yet to find out , but dont think i'll lose money by doing it

Not sure if same applies to USA but suspect parts different..........off another forum.....

If you bring a uk car to france, you will need to follow the following steps:

1. Get a certificate of Conformity for the car, usually from the manufacturer and occasionally for a small cost. Other documents you will need are proof of habitation in france (bill etc), the ownership docs from the uk.

2. Have a garage replace the headlkights in the car, so they are ok for france....doesn't apply in france I assume!

3. Have a controle technique (french MOT) done on the car to verify fully it is in working order.

.Take the documents to your local tax office to get the form showing either their is no import tax to pay, or that you have paid it. If you have a receipt showing your purchase of the vehicle, so much the better

5. Now, either go to your local Mairie, or for a quicker resolution, the local
prefecture and there you will need all of the above gathered documents plus passport, with all of this they will issue you with a form, which you take to the payment office (around 400 euros to pay) and then you will be issued with a carte grise (ownership doc in france.4

6. finally You will use the carte grise to get new reg plates for your car; you will also need to inform your now French insurers of the change in number plate.
