Bloomin potholes

passenger side rear tyre has decided to end it's life (pretty sure it was the edge of a pot hole) which has kindly interrupted my afternoon plans.

Have hopefully managed to get a demountable transporter (none of the recovery companies seem to have them and rac were too busy trying to get me to opt for a new tyre).

Failing this does anyone have any suggestions on a temporary rear wheel? (I am only 2.5 miles from home!)

As you can see from pic tyre gunge and pump are out of the question!

Google 'mobile tyres near me' and you'll find someone no doubt, if you don't wanna use the rac

I think there may be rim damage as well. The tyre is half off the wheel and had to drive a little bit to get to a safe space to stop without a soft verge ☹️

Can you see any obvious holes/tears? If not, you could take the wheel off and Uber to a repair centre to see if they are able to get it fixed or fit a tube as a temporary fix so you can at least drive home. Then you can shop for new tyres without the hurry factor..you”ll also be able to assess any rim damage.

Slightly beyond repair unfortunately.

Thanks for the help. I have just been collected by https://www.bwrtyres.co.uk/ who got there within an hour. Which was amazing as all the other companies didn't seem to have a detachable bed trick available.

Now to get the tyre / wheel sorted!

FYI Michelin 4S are out of uk stock for the second time this month as a ZR20

You must, for insurance only fit generic fitment and not branded such as MO/Mercedes etc

XL (Extra Load) is ok

Very frustrating

That's a shame as I was looking at the Michelin's.

Thanks for the other advice.

Am happy to replace the other rear as tread is down on it - what's the next best in your mind?

That’s a worry, I need 2 PS4S rears very soon, I’m not going to mix and match with different tyres front and rear.

Also, check that Pirelli for cracking on the sidewall and in the tread, you may find your failure reason.

You could have also unexpectedly worn through to the chords on the inner shoulders, very common

So... It appears my hope of using the tyre sealant was definitely optimistic.

Tyre had completely separated - thankfully rim was undamaged so small mercies
