Amazingly ok. Where the tyre sheared from the side wall was higher than the edge of the rim so it actually ran on the side wall as opposed to the rim.

The chap from tyres on the drive and I did more damage (cosmetically) trying to get the remnants of the inner wall off the rim (had to cut through the banding and then use a pry bar to force the remnants into the middle of the rim. Could then use the machine to remove it.

So... It appears my hope of using the tyre sealant was definitely optimistic.

Tyre had completely separated - thankfully rim was undamaged so small mercies

I assume you've had a good look at the inside edge of the rest of the tyres? They are prone to wear the insides pretty quickly if not aligned accordingly. Wouldn't want that happening again.

Van tyre this evening, less than a month old £220, I suspect it may have been a sink hole!

I put 4 new Michelin tyres on a subaru impreza the day before a weekend away in the North East, pulled up outside the hotel and the steering wasn't right, got out and there was a triangular piece of metal through the tyre sticking out of the sidewall

I think that tyre had done about 150 miles

My father in law turned up one winter’s evening for dinner in his Subaru. Mentioned during dinner that he thought he might have a puncture. I ventured out in the snow to check, and a fifth of the wheel was gone. He’d hit a a kerb.
How do you spell kerb? Autocorrect came up with kurd, which ic Clare army wrong, is comes out as ic and Clare has an army which is clearly wrong.

god bless technology. Which autocorrect doesn’t give a captital G.

Our local council are very slow at fixing potholes. I believe some of them are 'Heritage Listed'...
