Brake Caliper Options

Hi All,

I’m in the process of arranging for the calipers to be refurbished, one of the rears has a noticeable mark so will get all 4 done. They are currently finished in adonised blue and I was wondering that when others have had their calipers refurbished, do you stick with the OEM adonised blue finish or go for an alternative blue finish?

The place I use will remove the calipers, fully strip them, prep and paint them and fully service them with new seals etc.

Also, as the car is Sofisticato Blue, I think it can carry any of the original optional colours, so whilst I like them Blue, I quite like the yellow finish from the pics I’ve seen in this combination.

Advice and pics appreciated

I'd certainly make sure the refurb place uses proper expoxy (two part, with hardener) caliper paint. Other than that and good prep the rest is just down to your taste.

The problem you are going to face is that keeping the anodised feature is going to be properly expensive. But then yellow is better, obvs. ;)

The anodised finish does look cool, but it doesn't last.
Mine were anodised red from the factory, but someone must have put some sort of wheel cleaner on them, as they went pink.

I think you should get them to try and match your interior colour. I did mine myself so was limited on colours, so went for white to tie it in with the interior.

I don’t mind the cost, but am not convinced the adonised finish is all that. It’s subtle in blue, so am tempted to go a very slightly deeper blue, or change the colour. I do like yellow.

White on yours works well with the black body. My interior is Bianco pregiato so not sure it would work against Sof blue.

Yellow. Nothing stops or looks better on blue

Alfa Romeo were the first the paint callipers and they were red. Anything else is just imitation.

Anodised look good for about a year then fade and splinter.

The only thing that should be yellow on a car is the rear plate, end of :)

Fair points and appreciate your view. 100% agree on the lifespan of the adonised finish, hence looking for an alternative finish. On that basis I may still go for a blue, just not adonised.

Red is the classic finish and works well on most cars, but with the Blue bodywork I’m leaning more towards yellow, not so much the bright Maserati yellow but a bolder, deeper yellow.
