Well that looks like a bloody good idea, although I'd probably go steak and kidney

What and miss out on the extra starch?

Yeah, was never a fan of meat and potato, in truth.
Hmmm. Pork pie baguette, perhaps?

I do like a pork pie and was grateful when my son brought some over last year.Probably ok for domestic consumption but may struggle getting one into France ATM.
I think for a lot of British they don't want to take stuff apart on the plate whereas over here it's the norm when eating.

In the meantime a Pâté en Croûte is very nice indeed along with French Cheddar
Can it be called Cheddar, if it's not from, er, Cheddar? (bit like the Champagne argument).
Yes it can. The cheddar thing was lost a long time back. Many other cheeses are protected, though. Stilton, for example....

But now we're out of the EU.......
I think...On QI they stated that Stilton cannot be made in the village of Stilton...I think!Yes it can. The cheddar thing was lost a long time back. Many other cheeses are protected, though. Stilton, for example....

The hotel in Stilton was a coaching Inn on the A1 and where the cheese was put on coaches to be distributed around the country - hence the nameIt's true. It can't
But then it wasn't. It was named because it was popularised in the hotel I believe

Stilton can only come from a small number of cheesemakers supplied by certain dairy farms close to Melton Mowbray (of pork Pie fame) - the main Stilton Creameries are: Long Clawson, Colston Bassett plus Tuxford & Tebbit
The best in my opinion is Colston Bassett, it's the creamiest.
Useless facts I know but I grew up in the area
I brought a shed load of French cheeses back from Belgium and now it's all gone off! Got far too much! Does cheese go off? Suppose it must......Twas my understanding as well. Very fond of some Colston Bassett

S'pose if you pick the green bits off it'll be ok?Yeah, sadly. Particularly soft cheeses. Had some brought back from Normandy some years ago in mid November. By Christmas it was demanding a seat at the table and nicking my best scotch....
