Brisbane Boys get together......all 2 of us!!

Hi folks

Well today was the inaugral meet of the Brisbane Boys chapter of the Oz Maserati club! Given the rarity of these beasts over here (and the UK boys probably won't grasp exactly how rare they are here in Brisbane....I've been here 9 years and never seen another 3200 or 4200!!) the fact that there are now 2 of us is enough to make some waves over here!!

I have to say I hadn't driven a 3200 before so Tim was most gracious in letting me have a go in his seeing as he only picked it up on Thursday.

Despite the obvious similarities, they are very different beasts. The driving position is different (maybe down to different design of seat?), the throttle is more immediate it seems in the 3200, much more brutal, and the responses that little bit stiffer (maybe due to it being an AC with the slightly different/lower suspension set up?) It was like a light switch in the way that it delivered it's power so it was on or off etc. Tim's car is a manual and I simply adore my CC so whilst I can definitely see the appeal of a 3200 with it's twin turbos (and boomerangs of course!) and I'd never knock anyone for their particular choice of car, I do prefer the 4200. Tim and I discussed the differences and he may well have a different perspective on the differences & preferences but as I'm 45 and spent most of my working life driving like a loony (and getting paid for it) and the cold, hard performance figures of both cars are broadly the same, I prefer the slightly less frantic approach and feel of my 4200....but then that's me! Tim, at 25, will quite appropriately label me an old fart after that

That's just my opinion anyway and I don't want to start the usual '3200 vs 4200' war

Both look great, I especially like the deep blue on your car, and you do take good photos, the show off the lines very well. Always good to have company!

Hi guys and thanks for the replies!

There are a couple of GT's floating around - I've seen one and friends text me when they see others (although often it's the same couple of cars seen repeatedly - they have distinctive number plates) but to date I've not seen a single 3200 or 4200 on the road so we still have a little bit of the mystique attached.

Mt.Glorious and Nebo will be done but yesterday was our first introduction and I had some time issues but we've discussed doing it at some point in the future so it's on the cards! More pics to follow as and when that happens.

And yes Dem, gotta love those Boomerangs!!!!!!

Glad to see you are keeping good care of "my" car Gary!! So glad it has gone to a good home after all the care I took of it!
It looks much shinier than I when I owned it- Austalian polish must be much better than ours!

Ha ha not sure about that! I think you did all the ground work in keeping her in such good condition and all I do is maintain that...which is easy to do when you have such a love of doing it, as sad as that may be :as002:

I do not know why I have only just seen this thread!!!!

As Gary said, Mt Glorious is to come, I think I need to brush up on my driving a little first, I wouldn't call Gary slow.....for an old fart!

Interestingly enough, there is another 3200 gt at Automotion at the moment....it is a normal one though....

Looking forward to meeting some of you soon!

Tim
