After 2 and half years of being careful I've scuffed one of my 20" Ball Polished Birdcages. I had a mobile refurber round and he said that although they look ball polished they are actually painted and he would try and get a match but Stratstone tell me that they are not painted and can't be repaired..... any ideas Guys?

I guess another option would be to get them all painted, I quite fancy Graphite but the ball polished wheels on the black GT do look good!..... once again what do you guys think?

Cheers
Andy

I am sure they can be repaired, puddle weld them, grind it back and polish it up, I expect you will be able to see the repair if you look closely. Try an indie, someone like Emblem, they will have a trusted refurb guy, at very least they will point you in the right direction.

Hi Andy , sorry to hear about your misdemeanor, but they can be repaired , sorry but you will have to come south of the border:0037: Dick Lovets definately of Cardiff posssibly Swindon have repaired several sets of ball polished rims in the past , i know because i wanted to buy a set ex Massersods wheels that had laquer blemished irregularities , but they had to go back to Maserati GB ,

I think they put them out to be done , they might even put you in contact with there repair guy direct , Ball polished Trofeo wheels are still around £950 each so well worth a £200 repair in my book

Give johanne a ring at Cardiff she will put you straight

regards loz

Thanks for the replies Guys, I have contacted a local company who talk a good game and are going to come and give me a quote.

Hey Loz, you know I do venture south of Birmingham occasionally, you may remember I traveled all the way to Brighton a couple of years ago just to have a pint with you only to be stood up at the last minute.

Only joking Loz, yes we did get them and so did the other guys off the forum can't remember their names now one of them had a spyder but came in his BMW Z1.
With reference to your Maser mega meet, if you remember we were on a Cannonball run that day and stopped at Blenheim Palace for lunch and photos, it is a stunning location.

Cheers

DL now send ball-polished wheels to London for the refurb, it's around the 185-200GBP mark + the inconvenience of it not being done in situ. I've got a slight mark on the front O/S rim, there is a guy in the Bath/Wiltshire area who will do it for *much* cheaper. I've used him before through Cortese and the results were very good. Will need to track him down though.

Hi Guys, thanks for the suggestions and sorry for the belated reply but there have been developments. I started to notice that every wheel on my GT is now showing signs of oxidisation (some pretty bad), so I have sent photos to Stratstone and asked them to comment. I am hoping that they will have to be replaced, I'm sure it may be a battle but as I have spent approx. £250k on new Maserati's they are usually pretty good to me, we will see. I'll keep you posted.
Cheers
Andy
