Caliper bleed nipples required - where to purchase?

Hi all,

I had my new tyres fitted yesterday and whilst there and the wheels were off I had the geometry set up and the brake fluid replaced.

Bleeding the brakes. I was informed that no fluid was coming out of 2 of the bleed nipples (one front, one rear). As they hadn't scheduled for this and I had been there 3 hours already (they were very careful and very thorough) I took the car away. Their suggestion, before replacing or removing calipers was to get 2 bleed nipples and they would replace them to see if that worked (they think the nipples were blocked).

Can I buy just the bleed nipples? Are they the same size front and rear and is this a specific Maserati part or are they pretty much universal?

Thanks all.

Michael

Yes, a simple job, ask for Brembo equivelant at your local motor factors and they will be pennies not pounds.

Thanks for the replies. Do you know the specific size to ask for? I presume I need to know the thread size and length? There seem to be a few different Brembo ones.

Aha Nipples. They often get a bit stiff and need regular attention. They do come in alsorts shapes and sizes but all have the same purpose. Application of a bit of grease keeps them fresh.

What?

When getting them out I find temperature makes quite a difference - makes measuring them difficult as the size and shape can change quite a bit.

The ones in my ebay link are a perfect fit, and stainless too.
I've ordered them. Only need 2 but may as well have them all replaced at the same time. Many thanks.

Stainless tend to weep. The alloy is such that the grain leads to a surface finish that ends up weeping oil.
Despite most are rolled I would have thought, ( as opposed to machined by cutting the threads which leaves a coarse surface that leaks) - and from experience, Ive never had to tighten a bleed nipple as tight as I did when I refurbed the 4200 brakes to stem the weeping...all this with oem spec bleeders. Id avoid SS, personally....

Not saying your wrong, but seen lots of recommendations on other forums to use stainless, but will keep an eye on them, aren't the replacement pistons for strad calipers stainless? if so i would be more worried about that.
