Post #48 in this thread by me back in Dec you'll see i went into detail on JDM. My tip at the time was the subie P1... There were 3 on PH and AT for under 30k. I think 2 were 26k. Here we are 3 to 4 months later and you wont find one. If you did it will set you back 40k. Not bad for 4 months. Peripheral cars have already lifted too... 80s mitsi starion, rb30 gts, fc rx7, rnn14 gtir, sil180 / s13 etc. The halos are now rubbish prices and despite most disagreeing with me, anyone forking out 250k for an r34 gtr m spec nur etc is going to get burnt fingers. They'll ultimately get their again but i can see some sharp dips at the top end... Especially when good r35 gtr are so cheap. The luxo barges like celsiors and soarers havent gone up much but i doubt they will. Rust free s205 turbo celica which were 7k, now 15k, are still a good pick up. A well sorted tt 5spd zx is probably good value... Relatively speaking.
USA is 25 year rule not 20. So i compete with them on some imports. But generally where they can (such as supra) they prefer left hookers, but for some they cant... Such as r32/3/4 gtr. Most importers will cop 6 to 12 months max storage, but after that carrying costs get too high. Storage, insurance, freight back and forth, potential for exorbitantly charged repairs if you are not local... Etc etc. I've been through it too often and i won't go for more than 9 months max now.
I still reckon a well sorted gransport spyder... Limited to 44 right hookers.... Is crackingly good value. The verde green one at mcgraths last year was absurd value.
And whilst I'm by my lonesome on this one I reckon the 40 odd rhd Audi R8 GTs in coupe body, from a total run of 333, are good value as well. Maybe too soon to have fully depreciated, but must be close to...
