Anyone had dealings with these people?

Just had a conversation with them concerning my Magneti Marelli NIT.
Not sure what to make of it

Yes, they’ve done a Porsche amp for me in the past. I also heard about a chap who’s GTS NIT they fixed but it was circa £1800 if I recall. Capable guys but not cheap.

Thanks Dicky. Not impressed with the conversation. Wanted the headcrashing disk reinstalled and then charge £79 to report that the disk needed replacing.
Am I stupid?

The disk isn't headcrashing Robin! Do you want me to send you another drive to be sure?

No Phil. I know it isn't. After the 12 minute pause it stays up and no boot recycling. Reboot is characterised by the logo. This is blank which indicates the eeprom issue that you proposed.
They said they have seen quite a few white screen units but wouldn't say if the safety battery was the issue or whether it's replaceable.
Distinct money spinning rather than helpful
I'll pull the NIT but not today. Busy on the lathe this afternoon

Thanks anyway Phil.

they've been there donkeys years and I used to visit many years ago whenever I needed a stereo and audio/visual gear, never managed to ever use them due to trying to overcharge me all the time, always got the "take it or leave" impression

I've contacted the Guy who has the spare NIT. Is it worth an offer when he gets it back from the AV place?

HW7 from a 4.2

I am trying to get it for you prior to paying so we can at least try to fix it (maybe HDD fault)...

Cheers

Phil

The unit should be winging it's way to me in the next week or so. I'll let you know when here and maybe a trip over is in order to fix it once and for all?

Bless. The unit has been out a couple of more times.
Even more oddities
It's manufacture date is 2011. The car is 2008.
The main ISO cable is quite worn, brushing against sharp infrastructure.
I may try two last things.
Replace with origin disc. Known behaviour.
Pull the harness and inspect fine wires exposed from the shroud.
One change at a time
