Sadly, as expected.

From the organisers:

Hi

I hope you are doing well during this rather crazy time. I have just returned to work after being on furlough and am sad to say that we are going to have to cancel Supercar Saturday this year. It was a hard decision to make but there is so much uncertainty around whether events like this will be able to go ahead so it is hard to plan. The sharing helmets would be a big issue as we wouldn’t have time to clean them between passengers whilst still getting enough people out on track to raise enough funds to counter the costs.

Cancelling is a big blow for us as our fundraising has taken a massive hit since March. We are hoping that some of the people who usual attend might be willing to still donate their entry fee to the charity so we can try and raise some funds despite the cancelation. If you know of anyone who might like to donate the link is below:

Fingers crossed that next year is very different from this year.

All the best

That's understandable. Even allowing for some lousy weather in recent years it has become a bit staid, so a break may not be a bad thing and perhaps it could be bigger and better in 2021.

Interesting thoughts. I run an annual 2-day conference each February and after 5 years (and with COVID-19) we have been wondering whether to take a year off in 2021, or whether we can run a kick-*** hybrid (online and physical) event. Lots of risk and a really hard decision.....

My personal view would be 'one or the other' VC can work OK, but it depends a lot on the quality of the presenters and the number of attendee
Also IME of conferences the networking between is worth as much, if not more....
