Residential to cover the drive and garage which is at the side of the house.
Can't put gates on as it tapers.
Also the side garden which is at the other side of the house as we are on a corner plus the path at the back of the house.

ok so you just need a 4 camera package, if you have a Costco nearby they do quite a selection starting at about £200 4 cameras and dvr, they're actually a piece of cake to install, if your not handy then just find a local alarm installer to fit it for you for cash and should be no more than a days work unless you live in some sort of sprawling mansion, that will be the cheapest way

Aldi were offering a 4 camera, 1tb dvr and all cables (plug and play) for £179 this week via online ordering (may have been Lidl). Specs looked ok and you can view through iPhone etc also. Coming from that industry the quality of these systems has come a long way recently.

I just fitted a four camera package. 4tb hard drive as I need 3 weeks recording before overwriting. Wireless, although the cameras need power. Easy to install and plug and play. I can watch remotely, but didn't bother connecting, as the last thing I want to do is watch my house when away. Hopefully the cameras will be deterrent enough for the opportunist. Loads of packages on Amazon.

We've installed a few but are too far away and too busy to be honest to help.

Mainly installed commercial systems for small business and mainly IP PoE cameras as one CAT5e cable carries both data and power to each camera from the embedded PoE switch in central DVR. Simple to install.

Lots of calculators help calculate how much storage you need for amount of cameras, frame rate, quality etc.

Bear in mind that the bigger the MP and quality on camera the more space it will use. A 1 or 2MP camera is often good enough for most applications and 5MP or more is often over the top but nice to have if you want to spend more on 6/8 TB+ disk.

Hikvision kit is decent enough without going to silly money and has decent quality/features. I used an SPro diskless DVR with 4 x MP cameras and 4tb disk. Only as we buy from Luxrite a CCTV disty and that is their own brand.

Most DVR's configure over a web browser and easy but lots of options to tick/select. I chose for my own home system to record on events/movement which keeps previous x mins prior to event and after so bit like dash cam. Keeps footage for longer but doesn't record 24/7 keeping it as you would only get a couple of weeks footage.

Hope that helps a bit.

I presume each camera can bet set to different times we have a dog so the garden areas would only need to be covered when he is in overnight and when at work?

Yup, most systems you can set different profiles for different cameras to suit varying requirements.

I use Sovereign Security who have installed all my systems in Bristol and Gloucester.

Yes you are paying for a Co. to install, maintain and monitor but I have neither the skill or inclination to DIY one of these.

Have a look at the Ring products , I've got the doorbell and floodlight cam with chime pro , motion detection with adjustable zones and sensitivity so it doesn't pick up animals

If they go off you can view live on your phone or subscribe to ring protect which is a few quid a month

easy DIY install , just a power lead , doorbell works on batteries that last for months between charges

they sell them in costco
