Ceramic Coatings

Keep seeing all different options for ceramic coatings,from DIY to super expensive valet has anyone had this done and is it worth it

It depends. I think it is worth it and have all cars done. Whether I have a ceramic coat, full PPF or or a self-healing ceramic coat depends on the car and the use (and subsequent cleaning regime) it is likely to get. I have certainly never regretted it. Would not do DIY since some of the paint is very soft and some of the coatings need to be machine polished and baked on etc.

It depends. I don't think I have ever spent less than £500 but also up to £1500 (for something like the above and including a few extras). But the cars are far easier to keep clean and suffer less damage doing so. Also if the paint is a few years old and tired you get it looking like new again. The Alpina above is 17 years old for example. These prices are for full paint correction and ceramic coating not for PPF.

Had mine detailed and ceramic coated earlier this year and the cost was the thick end of £1000. It does really add an extra dimension to the paintwork and is much easier to clean - the dirt and water just runs off. The only downside is that the detail has made the road rash more obvious but only when you are close up.
