All very hard to keep an eye on...you really would need a spreadsheet to work out just what the given value is of a car at any time, taking into account about 30 variables........plus then 1 or 2 unknowns....;)

This one is now back on the market with a dealer:

I think the guy just wanted to sell it at any price in the end! I had offered him 27.5k in the summer but he wanted to hold out for 28 at the time..... From what I recall it did need the clutch replacing in the not too distant future and its obviously coming up to 31k mile service.

Do I take it the 31000 mile service is a big, expensive one?

People want you custom so will be prepared to deal on price currently for service.

I'll be taking it into Autoshield (Manchester) I think. They seem very reasonable. In January I bought an accessory drive belt from them but it looked a bit of a tight fit so I took it in and they changed it. As for payment they said, "we'll sort something out if you bring it in for a service". Can't say fairer than that!

Ian,

I think the thing with the schedule services (31k) is to make sure you know what you are getting - at the very least they need to do all the recommended service items and ideally change fluids + sparks (new Denso's presumably when they arrive) as well rather than simply inspecting them. Just on the major scheduled service, I think you will be looking at just over £1k +VAT + maybe factor in other bits and bobs / tyres etc.. which may need replacing.

I have heard good things about Autoshield and Marios seems to be very much in the know. I would have taken mine there, but the logistics of taking mine somewhere in Birmingham was a lot better as I work down there.
