The problem is some of these deals are BS. My man doesn't give any false info, generally has cars in stock and is reliable. That Yeti deal is stonking.

Indeed Phil and its not just the lease company that do the carrot dangle deals, I remember Alfa advertised on the TV a Giulietta for £199 all in on a 3 year, low deposit.

The only trouble is, none of those cars existed so basically they get you to call you, "but we can offer you something similar sir?"

*******!

I looked into the Golf R deal when it was £150pm and seemed too good to be true, which was exactly the case.

0-60 in about 5 secs and 50mpg....but in the real world the mpg was around 20 or less so didnt work as a daily driver.

Looks dull as dishwater too.

My sister has one and it doesn't look anything special & £30k, for a Golf ...

I went to my local VW dealer re the Golf R deal and he said they'd beat it. Ok, great, I'll have one please, just be honest with me about the MPG, 25 sir, and a 3 month wait list. Ok, I'll leave it thanks!

Apparently the Golf R, as the Audi S3 with the same engine, has some sort of eco mode to achieve the 50mpg, but its unusable to drive.

Its just a marketing attempt to massage the figures.

I don't really care about 25mpg if that is around town figures. Where else can you get that performance for low monthlies?

A nice 3200, 4200 or GS will give better performance with lower running costs if you think about it. Bought & sold right you have zero depreciation and possibly lower service/repair costs than the payments on the Golf. I know what I would rather have.

It's all relative I guess, you won't do similar miles, My 10 yr old Passat(. From new) has in thr last 3 years averaged 19k miles. Just cost me £250 to get through MOT today ( first time had to pay at Mot), still on original clutch, exhaust.
Its170 k up and still going strong and its cost me less than a Maserati clutch in last 5 years!!

It would be to run as the family wagen alongside the 3200's. Not a bad garage to be fair!

I don't understand the math on UK cars.
Your used cars prices drop harder than rocks when compared to the continent, yet you get incredible leasing deals on new cars :)
