48,000 kms works out at roughly 30,000 miles.

There's a 2008 Grantursimo in the UK with 32,000 miles on the clock for 43,950 British pounds.

You have to remember that salaries and general cost of living are now much higher in Australia than the UK.....changed massively from when I first started visiting from about 1999 - most noticeably in the past 4-5 years. I've had various staff that have emigrated and were doubling or tripling their salary; whilst this will be different across different sectors, it does illustrate the point.

You cant really compare the cost of individual items from two different economies...makes no sense!

Whilst I take you point re wages, the fact is that the UK pound and Oz dollar have an exchange rate which still shows that the 2 x UK cars could be bought for the same amount of money...yep no doubt the tax if you import it would eat into at least 60% of the saving.

Let's just say I have UK colleagues in my industry who I've worked with and know earn a similar salary once the GB Pound to $A conversion is completed.

It's the Taxes here in OZ which inflates the price so drastically.

Is the GT on the SEV low volume scheme? (i.e. can it be imported). I spent a lot of time about 18 months ago looking at vehicle export to Australia as a sideline business. It only fell down because of doubts about the financial position and proactiveness of the partner I'd lined up in Australia. At the time it was a great business model, but I think it was a 6 month window before 3200 and GS prices stated to fall a bit in OZ relative to the UK. Would be interesting to know if it stacks up for the GT, esp with complaince , LCT etc etc.

Not likely given the current rules and regs.

I'd imagine there would be quite a bit of interest for imported Granturismos and QPs if someone does manage to find a loophole.

Especially as we really pay through the nose here for those models.

Exchange rates go up and down ...who knows where it will be in 6/12/24 mths.....ergo values of items fluctuate too.
