Clutch pressure plate 3200GT

Hi all,

Where can one get a pressure plate for the 3200GT or a QP 3.2 for that matter ? Both Eurospares and Superformance have no available parts and I can't seem to find any on ebay etc. I have sourced the clutch disc and the release bearing but not the pressure plate.

It's rather frustrating that parts for our cars are long gone and with no new alternatives available.

Do any of you know who to contact ?

I would try David Askew in the first instance. I am sure he will know where they can be found.

I will surely ask David. He has helped me many times before. I was told by Superformance to contact Rebellion Motors SA in Switzerland as they might be able to help. Personally I've never heard of them but I'll give it a try.

There was a member on here a few weeks back with a huge list of spares including some clutch plates.

I’ve spoken to Sachs and they have dropped the pressure plate.
I’ve got a couple here but I need them for the cars I have. David hasn’t got any either but I’m still looking.

Thank you all for the inputs.

I don't think he has the parts I need. It's either 394650102 or 384601102. I have some contacts in Italy that researches a bit on my behalf - I can only hope something turns up.

The Maserati Shed has a nice solution with a remanufactured 3-piece kit that will work - but parts can only be used together as a unit. Problem is that I can't use their pressure plate with my already bought parts - clutch disc + release bearing.

It looks like I should have investigated this better before investing in the first two expensive parts. I might end up buying an all new kit and storing my new parts. Anyone need a upgraded 550Nm clutch disc ?;)

Yes,I have that one on watch. If nothing else pops up in a few days I might buy one - but it has a hefty price... Add shipping,fees,25% VAT and it's almost eye watering at aprox. £650. Combined that to the already spent £600 on the other parts and it all adds up to the clutch swap of the century... The Maserati Shed option suddenly looks like a bargain.

You could sell the parts you have and buy the Maserati Shed product.

Maybe that is the way to go. I wouldn't have bought any of the parts had I known what I know now. I'm awaiting answer from a friend in Italy and if he can't source anything I'll consider selling.

Maybe the shed will let you PX the parts you have?

Worth a call to Mike.

I emailed them yesterday evening asking what options they offer and if there is any way I can use the existing parts on their pressure plate. I don't think it's doable but worth a question. I can ask them if swapping parts and maybe some money is an option.

The irony is that the clutch is ok and working fine. It's the rear crankshaft seal that's leaking more and more and causing all this excitement. But with 84000km and probably original clutch it's not wise to put back the used one.

Mike at The Maserati Shed was very knowledgeable and indeed had a fitting 3-piece clutch kit. But in the end I bought an original 3200GT pressure plate - actually the one Lozzer linked to. Since I already have the other parts - disc and release bearing - this was the best solution for me. I'm unsure if I really need a new pressure plate for this job as this probably is in good condition but I couldn't take that chance.

Now it's just the motivation needed to begin the work and try to remove the rusted out bolts on exhaust at turbo end.

F- tech used extreme heat (cherry red apparently) to remove those exhaust to turbo manifold bolts successfully on mine. Go easy on gearbox and pressure plate bolts as they were in short supply when my clutch was done and I could only replace a few.

Red hot is probably needed here too. That would be a friday afternoons chore so sat/sun can be pure nuts & bolts. I hope :)

Have to agree with 40 years in the game Oct Accetalyne is your friend in these situations.
More and more on modern rubbish too.
A good old Classic Car can come apart relatively easy.
Good Luck.

About the M8 or M10 bolts that are on the exhaust flange - are they standard M8/M10 with 1,25 thread pitch or fine thread 1,00 ? Most likely they are not reusable after heating/manhandling them off and must be replaced. I have 1,25 pitch in many lenghts but 1,00 must be ordered if needed.

The bolts on cars that I have replaced previously tend to be fine thread.
