OK got a bit of time on my hands practicing my woodworking skills. Git some spare maple wood floorong left over too so thought I'd give these a go. They're a bit chunky but - but whatdya reckon to a special edition set of Maser' coasters? ......give me a chance - there's no way I was going to get the trident emblem using my router. Am I onto something

Very nice, but I suspect too thick. Also are they sealed?

Hmm I did think that too - but not sure there is a standard. Just experimenting with Dutch oil at the moment - not sure how tough it is but wanted a natural sheen. I have plenty to experiment with

Not a standard but all the coasters we have are sub 5mm. (No, @Zep I haven't measured them!) At that thickness I suspect things will start getting a tad more unstable. Also, condensation will (at a guess) go through Dutch oil.

30 years of being a coaster tellee for me today!
Also had new oak floor recently laid, but it was 20mm "engineering" floor rather than solid. The only off cuts I retained were to create small pads to put my speakers on as they have very nasty spikes which are not coaster teller freiendly.

More research needed obviously :) - cheers - although dutch oil seems to dry like varnish. Trying to get them thinner will need something akin to a bacon slicer jig for my band saw or table top saw to preserve my pinkies . Back to the cave ......

I use coins for the Viennas downstairs. The MA GR20s come with nice little discs with small sockets for the spikes. Makes them much easier to level

Congratulations on 30 years Eb. Doesn't that actually defeat the object of the spikes though? Or are the pads on rubber pads to damp the vibration between the oak pads and the floor?

I have been lock down fantastising about building some transmission line speakers, but have neither the man cave, tools nor skill to attempt such things at the moment. There's just so much "man stuff" associated with this endeavour... One day perhaps. In the meantime I have been slaking this lust by searching the dusty corners of youtube where this niche has been hijacted by car audio bass junkies.
