Looks they could be stair newel post caps. Maserati emblem stair fittings anyone?OK got a bit of time on my hands practicing my woodworking skills. Git some spare maple wood floorong left over too so thought I'd give these a go. They're a bit chunky but - but whatdya reckon to a special edition set of Maser' coasters? ......give me a chance - there's no way I was going to get the trident emblem using my router. Am I onto something
I've got my nose over one of theseTransmission line speakers - Wilmslow Audio circa 1990 did some brilliant kits.
I should have had a go when I had the time and the space...
How hard can it be Eb? - here's a trunk I made out of the same flooring material last year, so a speaker should be a doddle!I've got my nose over one of these
Appologies to IanU for thread drift.
Can you knock up a a pair of transmssion lines? You could stick one in your boot!

A linisher will "thickness" safely or if you're feeling brave/stupid (looks at self in mirror) try clamping a belt sander facing upwards.More research needed obviously - cheers - although dutch oil seems to dry like varnish. Trying to get them thinner will need something akin to a bacon slicer jig for my band saw or table top saw to preserve my pinkies . Back to the cave ......
The belt sander in the vice works great - it was feeding them through the band saw that was a bit tenseA linisher will "thickness" safely or if you're feeling brave/stupid (looks at self in mirror) try clamping a belt sander facing upwards.
Most sealing oils will leave a veneer but this can be knocked back with wire wool. A final application of beeswax looks nice.
It's a constant battle and been going on as long as the coaster telling. She moves them because they are not straight. duh! Doesn't she know I have got the "geo" just right and even measured the distance to the listening position from each speaker because I am not allowed to put the listening chair in the optimum place between the speakers, and dialled in some delay on one side. Who knew that at 44.1Khz, sound travels around 1/3 inch for each cycle (so I read but did not verfiy), so the shorter length has been delayed by 24 cycles....being 8 inches closer ot my ears than the other.I have found wife and speakers are mutually exclusive

Many a band saw operator are minus a few digits including a mate of mine. He lost 2

It terrifies me - which is a good thing I think in the interest of keeping all of my digits.... but it's soooo useful. Many a band saw operator are minus a few digits including a mate of mine. He lost 2

Oh, they even have coasters on top to bring it back on topic!

Not a standard but all the coasters we have are sub 5mm. ..... At that thickness I suspect things will start getting a tad more unstable...
