Though you, you lucky so-and-so, have the MCV and a Strad, so not totally representative of most GS and GT. The MCV is quite a different drive to a normal GS, just as the Strad is quite different to a standard GT.
Ah yes there is that :) Probably why I have not got round to musing as I agree it would not be totally representative.

I also echo the blue/beige interior. The other one has an interior colour that reminds me of that week I volunteered at the old people’s home.

How come prices for the GS are so low in the UK? Is that representative for the entire used car market? In mainland europe it is rather the other way around these days. Prices of used cars are firm. A low-ish mileage GS would fetch around 40k here = approx GBP 36k
Because of our fixation with low miles and the latest thing. Unless it has a horse on it.

How much does a 2004 997 go for where you are?

Thanks guys, I also like the look of the blue/beige combo. I prefer something below the £20k mark so I am not too precious about it. The MCV do look great.
I have also been looking at 996 C4S but finding one with a proper engine rebuild is difficult.
I see the 4200 are cheaper, is it worth considering this? I think 4200 would be an option with a manual gearbox. Do the GS generally hold the value better?

I noticed the later models (2006) are ULEZ compliant which is a bonus.

This one is with higher miles but not sure of the interior (similar to my E46 M3).

I like the grey/red combo on my M3 but not sure how it looks in the flesh on a GS.
The higher mileage will be difficult to move on later?
Apparently offers invited, how low can you go without offending?

I think (hope) that a really good low mileage GS is still close to £30k in the U.K... I know you see cars advertised at around £20-25k, but I would guess they’re not top examples...

I think its fair to say that "easy" to move on isnt exactly their middle name. The GS seems to be dropping in price, the 4200 commands even less, as you noted...
I think a good GS stands a good chance of holding its money long term.
Nowhere near as good as a Porsche. If its a 996 that floats your boat, you could do worse than find a 40 jahre car. People spend small fortunes on old Porsches with hunderds of thousands of miles after all...
Of course its easier to sell a low miles car in pukka condition with full service history...but Id suggest that these arent the only decent cars worth a punt. A full PPI should help point you in the right direction...
In the end, the GS is great value, so why wouldnt you by the best car you can get your hands on....?
I nearly didnt even bother going to look at the car I ended up with. Red leather..jeez ! Not my thing. But then, the few grey cars over nero leather that I looked at and drove were just a tad undewhelming ( bit like 996 40 Jahre car tbh). Photos can be a be misleading, especially on a screen. It isnt a ferrari red...but bergundy. And if its half black, then the balance inside the cabin is spot on...IMO !

I like the look of the grey car, and if the owner is a proper enthusiast and the history stacks up that could be a great buy...

I’m not a fan of the grey, its ok but I prefer the wilder colors the car came with. The 90th anniversary blue, dark blue, green, yellow and rame ghibli are my favorites.

That being said I have a Nero Pastillo one so who am I to speak.

I suspect there are quite a few good cars at that price (20-25k) that have c 3/4k miles per annum, which in turn would be c 50/60k miles on the clocks...yep soon adds up.

As long as you maintain them they will keep going well... spent £4k on mine this year and did less than 500 miles...but it looks like it has done 10k overall, inside and out.

I have a facelift coupe and a 2016 GTS and have also owned a GS a few years ago.

I would whole heartedly recommend buying one as a complimentary car to your GTS- it feels much more like a weekend car and definetly feels bespoke when compared to the GTS.

I was always planning on buying a GS (still possibly am) but before I do I'm going to turn my coupe into a GS visually and add a Larini X Pipe and exhaust system, with sports springs and a FD DBW module. I bought my coupe for approx 5.5 K so think spending another 3-4 K on it would be really worth it.

I've had a GS for about 3 years now and keep looking at GTS s . Every time go and look at one I think "Its like a barge !" I think that the interior styling is awful compared to the GS. The big square door air bags are horrible .The light switches and the centre console were out of date when they first fitted them . If you have an eye for design then the GS is a special car . But what do I know ....Ill probably have a GTS in 6 months :D

Your GS is special, Sparts, and looks superb in red. And you're right, next to it is GTS is bloody huge.

The clues are in the names - Sport vs Touring.

Apologies if this is thread hijacking but I have an '05 GranSport that may be available. Having only done c.600 miles in it last year (and some of those were for a service at Shiltech and it's MOT - no advisories, in September) and now owning an E63 for a bonkers V8 fix, I could use the garage space back. The GS was formerly owned by @hashluck of this parish and bought by me from Richard Grace Cars in September 2018. Whilst it has a few more miles than some at 72990, you would not know it to look at and drive, the history folder is pretty substantial. Please message for further details if interested.
