To be fair I didn't know you had to pay to cross the bridge, I knew I had to pay for the tunnel so I paid double on that crossing when I found out. Anyways, apparently I've had a non appearing pcn, so not knowing about that one and thus not paying it and also wavering the right to pay the £2.50 within 14 days and they waiver the fine (first time offender) , I've had a further pcn today for £107.50, and a threat for court action in 14 days. Livid. Its not the money, its the fact I have not received the first pcn which they say was issued 16 Oct. Imbeciles.
At least the car looked awesome on the photograph.......

I got a Bus Lane Penalty in Leeds on a Sunday morning when the roads were empty, and I didn't even need to use the bus lane, just forgot cos I'd been living in Dublin (first time) where bus lanes are for cars too!

My brother paid a day late, moved and didn’t get the penalty notice. Eventually it cost him over 400 quid. It truly is outrageous that they can get away with it.

And of course the ultimate laugh, I went over in October in my Swedish Porsche and when I went to the website to pay, they had no record of me crossing. Payed my 2.50 anyway, but I wonder if they only target uk registered cars because it’s easy.

That's the thing, I nievely made a mistake that I tried to put right after I realized, but I'm 99.99% positive they never sent out the first pcn, I've paid up, but someone somewhere is going to be getting a strongly worded complaint.....whatever good it will do, I just feel like I've been conned.

Ah that's annoying

To avoid it happening again you should register for an account - it makes it impossible to be fined - even if you have no credit on your account they will send an invoice and hassle you to top up.

It's worth registering for an account and just put a tenner in it. It only refilled when you get down to a fiver and auto refills.
Worth it to save the hassle.

Thats what I do, I like the fact you can add multiple cards on the same account as well

I've had a non appearing pcn

This happened to me with TfL and the Congestion Charge as well. To avoid the Court summons, I had to swear an affidavit at my local solicitors confirming I did not receive it. This is TfL's requirement.

While paying the solicitor for her thirty seconds work witnessing my affidavit, I asked her if this was common. She rolled her eyes and said 'all the time, all the time'.

It's strange, I'm unaware of any other post going missing. Strange how these seem to get lost in the post regularly.

No point trying to track down and fine a Swede, Paul. They're all so law-abiding and compliant they'll be tracking down how to pay rather than being delighted to have got away without. "It is a social responsibility", they will explain, earnestly. :)

Don’t try the same tactic in Europe - one phone call from French Plod to the DVLA Next thing you a fine through the post.
