Think he is already inn guys

Yah I know, just thinking about a solution if his key had snapped!!!
Honestly, I would have no problem introducing 12v through the ciggie socket, the current draw would only be what the car requires, what with everything off, sufficient current to energise the solenoid when pushed. The ciggie socket should be able to cope with 10amps or more easily, just think what you run through one, search lights, electric fridge etc.
I'm sure you can buy a plug in 9v battery thing for a ciggie socket, so when you disconnect the battery, you do not loose the clock time, radio station memory etc. that might work enough to energise the solenoid.
I like solving a problem!
Cheers

LOL I shut my keys in the boot after resetting the battery, the car was open -- but my boot button does not work. It was frustrating to say the least :D
