Following my TPMS thread, could we post a list of functional diagnostic tools that are available at a reasonable cost for the home mechanic and what they allow you to do , e.g modules, procedures etc

Autel , Foxwell etc ?

I've seen Foxwell NT650 mentioned which look to run £100 ish second hand and £250 new - I take it these can read / reset errors in the various control units?

Please share what your using.
Thanks

Just wanted to share my experience - Autel AP200M from https://www.auteluk.com/ - £37 shipped , arrived in 5 days.

Has read and re-set my TPMS errors (and other modules) following a flat battery. For my requirements it seems spot on.

This is what the auto-scan picked up

Has options for Live data, very happy with the £37 outlay.

Yep one manufacturer free for 1st year, $19.99 per manu, per year after that.

There is an AP200C for All manufacturers but less diagnostics (at least listed) , see the comparison here.
the AP200H seems to be marketed for a Health Report from what I can see.

I've just received a ThinkDiag which I ordered 10 days ago on aliexpress - Paid £67 with an OBD extension lead (required for a QP5 as the unit wont fit in the space ).

Seems to be as comprehensive as the AP200M , if not possibly a little more ?
1 year free on ALL manufacturers by the look of things (which is better value than x1 Manu + 19.99usd per Manuf on the Autel)

Just had a play for 5 mins and generated a TPMS battery report and also grabbed the ID's for the sensors (I can use these to pre-code any replacements )

List of systems picked up (I did see F1 Gearbox being scanned but being a ZF its not listed obviously)

97236

PDF Report (you can add metrics, I just did TPMS battery level )
97241

TPMS Sensor ID's
97238

Some of the other TPMS system sub-items

97239

Fair bit chunkier than the AP200M so worth thinking about the extension lead....

97240

Doesnt seem as 'fast' as the Autel but both seem to cover a lot of the car sub-systems.

This is the extension cable i use Matt.

thinkcar OBD-II OBD2 Extension Cable Ultra Low Profile - Flat Ribbon Cable 16-pin Pass-through for OBD2 Bluetooth Wifi USB Scanners ECU OBDII Code Readers - 0.6m / 23.6'' / 2 feet https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B095HK9TBY/ref=cm_sw_r_awdo_Q172S6TJNQVKT9K6DRE8

Ebay one is £12 or pay more on amazon if you need it quicker.

I just plug the two ends together when storing it to protect the connectors.

I have the same one for Aston. Still figuring it out but seems comprehensive. It's worth noting that software updates require a Windows PC (rather than Mac).
Yes, good point. I have a windows partion on my Mac for such situations.

Considering that they don't actually market a tool for diagnosing Masers this bespoke one is excellent and they have very regular updates. I have just read and cleared the following faults:

B1 020 Rear headrest tilting over maximum threshold
B1 008 Mirror motor actuations Faulty load
U1 706 No communication with NFR invalid signal (This is skyhook)
P0301 Generic misfire
P0301 Cylinder 1 misfire
P0303 Cylinder 3 misfire - over maximum threshold

I drive the car quite hard and couldn't detect any issue with performance whatsoever but it's good to get rid of the Engine Warning light.

I don't think Foxwell rate this tool for Masers but for my 2007 QPV auto I can't find anything it hasn't been able to do. Software goes up to 2020 cars.

Mine threw up a few errors but they seemed generic/not-relevant ones. An actual Aston diagnostic thing in a main dealer threw zero errors at all.

Anyway, I may need to learn to make a Windows partition. Scared!
