So after 5 weeks without even moving my GT today was the day. Glad to say she started without any fuss and passed with flying colours. No advisories and all is well. Really missed driving her and took her on a nice 50 mile journey back home. Was planning not to use her too much during winter but not so sure, love every second im driving!!

The old style MOT were better. The ones where you didn't actually have to turn up!!

Interestingly during an MOT in Sweden a few years back I discovered their testers had access to a comprehensive database of typical faults for each type of vehicle, also available for public view.

One of the worst I went through. Testers were scary. They all wore white coveralls.

Car failed on 'missing or ineffective tow electric cover' !!

The Irish NCT is an eye-opener, you drop car off, book in, sit in a waiting room with windows into testing bay, they drive your car in one end, ramp it, do the needful and drive out of other end. Then come into waiting room and give you the good/bad news. It's purely NCT test centre, that's all. No allowance for 'you look after your car so I know it's safe' like I get back home!

Like a production line - not like UK in the old days, 'Yeah, I'll fix that tomorrow' ' ok, pass' 'your rear tail light is out ' 'no it isn't' 'oh, ok, pass'.....

I had 3 this month, Gt perfect, Saab £300 and wifes BMW £330. My mechanic is a good mate of mine, last year he passed my wifes car but said it had a broken spring, he was too busy but said can you bring it in next week, guess what it failed on this year!!

Had my GS done on Wed with a clean bill of health.

Is it worth getting it done again in the summer to re set the MOT clock as it had a 6 month extension
?

I misread this as Breaded MOT Day, which didn’t sound tasty. Must have my eyes tested.

Mine went through fine this year, only advisories were front n rear break discs which were worn, at least they are cheap to buy right best save for those then..

Not any more, my QP failed on hand brake with was deemed major failure. Car could not be driven away from MOT centre.

Hmm, they let Mrs C drive off. I mean, what are you supposed to do? Get it flat bedded to a specialist?

I doubt if brakes would need a specialist, they could hold it on site I suppose. But I do remember reading that you could drive it home after signing a disclaimer of some sort, maybe depends on how serious it is, but they can not allow you to take a car on the public highway knowing that it a potential hazard I’m sure.

Well she did. And back again. I still think parking brakes are a total waste of time but, meh

Agree ^^ with Saigon and Catman on all counts for DuoSelect and full auto cars.
Any of the outlier three pedal cars must have the jurassic park function.
