Was watching some Olympic Dressage on TV yesterday and it got me wondering........Is it the horse that gets the medal? All the rider does is sit there, the horse does all the work.

Horse dancing is about right about as far from sport as you can get, never understood it next we will have dog agility

I love the disco ponies. Apparently they aren’t taught the dance routine so they have to pay attention to the rider. Otherwise, I suppose they’d just mooch their way through it.
I was amused to hear Muse being played in the mens’ gymnastics. Shame they can’t have the horses performing to that band!

I'm surprised UK sport still fund Posh Pony Prancing, a bronze is not the biggest bang for the buck, compared to say boxing or Taekwondo...just saying

Does she use a local special horse or does that get flown over too? That won't come cheap to fly a horse all the way to Tokyo.
If so, I'm not sure we have our priorities right in this country given we are told loads of families can't afford to feed themselves or thier kids but we can fly a horse 6000 miles to prance around.
Not wanting to be political, just saying.

Do I get a medal because I can dress too? Been doing it since a kid and putting your right sock on can lead to similar dancing and hopping.

Perhaps what we need is for reverse parking to be an Olympic sport. Or Autotesting, now that is dressage in motor form.

Well that is 'a bit' political.
The money seems to mostly from the lottery.
Sailing gets twice what equestrianism got.

Never sure about this
If you have ever sat on a horse you will realise the 1000kg horse does exactly what it wants - not because the 60kg rider tells it - but because the horse wants to.

I've ridden evil handling and poweful motorcycles round the Mountain Course on Mad Sunday but have only been scared when an Horse hit 4th gear on a beach in Australia....you realise that you have no brakes (not under the right foot or hand!)

I learnt to ride horses when I was a youngster, not particularly well or for too long, a close family friend was an instructor, more interest for my sister who continued and owned her own horse for a while.
Anyway I was given the opportunity to ride in the Zimbabwe Bush 23 years ago. All was fine until nearly back to the lodge, and my ride wanted to get back quicker than I did. At that point had no control what so ever and was thrown off. Never riden again!
