Driveshaft Boots

I'm in the process of replacing all the bushings and engine mounts in my car and thought I might replace these while I'm at it.

Wanted to ask if there's any cheaper alternative or should I just shell out for the OEM Ferrari part? (Linked, its the same used in the 355 and other Ferraris)

You could use a universal stretch boot for a tenner each I would imagine.

Are there no second opinions on this?

Why is the axle kit cost so much more than the single CV boots? Any insights would be nice.

The axle kit is almost £70 where as the single cv boot is just a tenner, whats the difference as I don't really know.

If you use a stretch boot on the inner and outer to will have done an axle for £20. Plus grease of course.

I think what you are coming up against here is that to date, I can’t think anyone has DIY’d it. So no one knows. If it were me, I’d but the OEM, but I actually prefer the stretch boots for more run of the mill cars as they are more supple.

So should I just go for the cheaper option from them? Im not sure why they listed one as driveshaft boot while the other is cv as they’re the exact same thing, I assume the last part superformance listed is a generic copy.

I want to order from them specifically as im also ordering some other parts so I want to make sure if the savings by forgoing OEM are worth it here.

For example the valve cover gaskets I wouldn’t risk going pattern as its a more sensitive part.

For me having been in the trade a long time it's Genuine all the way as they come with OEM clips grease and look perfect on a proper car.
Yes for a sub £1000 car stretch boots will be fine.

Thanks I will take this into consideration, I’ve been leaning slightly towards OEM. Was just hoping the price premium isn’t just for the fancy Maserati box!

There is always a premium for the box, but you can put other stuff in them afterwards :)

As Phil says, you get what you pay for, originals will come with clips the right length (not the universal ones with lots of extra holes, the grease etc and will fit perfectly. You could save, but it depends on what you want to achieve.

My car was neglected for a while so I was looking to replace these while the wishbones are out for the bushing replacements, I figure it'll be a lot easier and logical to just replace these all at once rather than having to take the car apart multiple times.

The savings between the generic boots and the originals would be around £90, yes they are a third of the price but £90 is not that much in the grand scheme of things, especially when you're talking about Maserati parts and service.

I too don’t get why two boots individually is £50 but the kit is £70. They’ve both got gaiters, clips, grease and the CV circlip.

Boot kit contains one cheap and one expensive.
